I have just finished painting the excellent resin cockpit of my Classic Airframes F-5A 1:48 scale. This is the first resin set I have really had a good go at and am very happy so far, using lots of ideas taken from you guys and a couple of magazines. The grey parts are Vallejo light grey and the details is painted with Humbrol enamels with oil washes of lamp black and burnt umber mix. The dials have been filled with Microscale Krystal Klear to simulate glass. There are no dial details on the IP so I had to try and add some white dots for interest using a toothpick.
Everything looks good. One comment though. Aircraft ejection seats were always well maintained. Corrosion wasm’t allowed at all. It was the pilots one chance to survive so the seats were always the first to get attention and care.
I just finished th C.A. F-5E kit, aren’t they an awesome kit? I found the fit to be decent, needed just a touch of filler here and there. I did mine in nmf (foil) finish with the markings for Williams AFB. Your detail painting is outstanding, came out a lot nicer than mine did! I’ll be watching for progress pics!
In the flesh I must say that the wash is a little more subtle than in the photos so the seat does not look as weathered, but I hear what you are saying and I might run a light wash of grey over the backrest of the seat.

Fitted the pit into the fusilage today and boy did it put up a fight! Warped is an understatment, I think if I left my pool cue on the radiator it would come out straighter!
I think I might be breaking out the filler tomorrow, or I might wait for the Gunze Mr Dissolved putty to come and give that a go, anyone used it?
I had the same problem on a much lesser scale. I chose to use Milliput to fill the seam rather than sand down the resin cockpit that much. Lookin’ great so far!
Ok fusilage seams filled, with milliput fine (thanks brian44) wings attached along with engine intakes. Looks like more filling and sanding on the cards, HOORAY! I 'aint done much of that lately(not!).
Even with all the fit issues I am enjoying my first 1:48 scale Jet and my 4th kit for two decades, I feel more at home building jets I think so it may have to be either the ME262 with aires extras or the Tamiya 1:32 F-15E my wife is getting me for my b’day.
