Normandy Panther #135 Completed Pics

hello,

first attempt (finally) of posting some pics.

i did this Panther for the GB a while back: CMK upper hull and turret, karay tow cable, a little photo etch.
i realsie only now that it is the wrong zim pattern for this v famous tank, but oh well.
my skills have moved on a (little!) bit since this, but any comments welcome.
sorry for the poor pics.

Nice job!

Pretty nice job on your Panther, (my favorite). Your zimmerit is a little hard to see because of picture quality. I would say overall a solid job, but, it looks like you’ve zimmerited over the gunners sight holes on the mantlet, and I would say that the tow cablesare way too long. Also, for a Panzer that has completely ripped off it’s right fender, (a pretty serious collision) the right front and right side look a little clean (scrapes dents, etc.) especially the Schurtzen.

Is this a late A? what kit is it, DML? I’m a little confused because the hull has the “G” tool stowage and drivers periscope brow, but there is no “chin” on the mantlet. Perhaps an early G?

In any event, your camo looks really good and those hitch hikers on the beck deck are cool as well/ Thanks for letting us take a peek.

Steve

Excellent job on the tank and figures, nmayhew.

Regards, Dan

Nice Kitty!!! Gotta love the Panther, good job!!![8D]

nmayhew,
Really good looking Panther[tup][tup]. I like the camo job, looks great. This is just my opinion, but some weathering would set it off. I’m partial to a used (abused) look.
And you even have figures, something I’ve not attempted yet[:-^].
Great Job, hope to see more of your work.
Joe

Stug, boybuddho and Anthony14 thank you.

sorry about poor pics but i only have a bsic digi cam
re the gunsight holes, they are still there, but again, poor pics - the mantlet is CMK as well, it’s all zimmed up for you is resin
the cables: yep, way too long!
re the fender you have a point - i chopped it off completely because i didn’t have PE fenders and couldn’t bend the plastic ones, hence the chop!
same re the shurzen - plastic and not PE i’m afraid
what’s left of the kit was Tamiya’s early G; as to the mantlet cover, may be i just forgot, or perhaps that’s how it looked in the photo refs (can’t remember to tell the truth, but it does ring a bell now i think about it)
the riders are DML panzer riders Lorraine '44, and were fun to do although hard to do the ss mottle cammo.

i actually used a heavy oil wash, but it doesn’t show well in the pics, but check out the numbers - you will see they are not crisp and clean.
i haven’t used oils since as i found them v cumbersome (just me i guess) v smelly (not just me i guess![:p]); i now use a water based wash which i find much easier.

Beautiful Panther Nick. I really like the camo. Is that PE zim? Which brand?

good job! I’m building that same kit as we speak… thanks for the pics!

Good job Nick. I like the figures on the tank! it gives it that in the field look. You’ll have to post pics of your Panther again when you’ve improved on your photography skills. LOL. Believe me, mine aren’t much better. Thanks for taking the time to share your work with us. It’s very good. Semper Fi, mike

Very nice work. The camo is very impressive. Thanks for sharing.

The panther looks great. Good color choices. I like the figs in pictures 4 and 5. They look good and really give an idea to the size of those things.

The armchair modeler in me says: Drybrush the front sproket teeth and track guide teeth. It’s easy to be an armchair modeler though. [:D]

Looking great, nice camo[tup]

the panther looks great especially the camo pattern, you did an awesom job on it, hopefully my king tiger will be up to snuff when its finnished.

Excellent work on the vehicle and figures, Nick!
