No way, no how would you get me in that thing.
DITTO!!
Thanks for the link and I will watch from the sidelines thank you very much!
There is a photo that circulated widely showing the shock wave generated by SSC during it’s record breaking run. If you scroll down to the next to the last photo in this linked page you will see that photo. Amazing stuff, congrats to Andy Green and the team!
EDIT-changed to indicate the last two photos on the page and hit submit instead of update. Sorry I couldn’t figure out how to delete the original post.

Hmmm… the fastest I’ve gone in any of my cars is about 145. I couldn’t imagine
Yeah about 130 for me. That was plenty fast enough.
All I know is that I was on a highway access road going somewhere over 100 in a government pickup as I chased a car off base. With the help of the Arkansas State Police we got him about 7 miles from the base. They told me it was over 100 because they were pacing us on the highway before they helped and I was not to ask about the speed again. It was after Pres. Carter limited gov’t vehicles to 55 max speed. I belive I still hold the speed record for the base.
In case you’re curious, it was a 1974 Chevy fleetside P/U with a really good V-8 engine.
