I wonder how long it took to start building the bomber around the bombsight, versus adding a bombsight to a bomber. I wasn’t aware of the extent an autopilot was used. I knew the bombadier had control. I wasn’t aware the bombsight really had control!
Adding an autopilot to a bomber that wasn’t built to have one sounds quite difficult.
iirc the auto pilot flew the aircraft which was under the control of the bombadier via he bomb sight.
