Noob return and trying new things.

Hey guys been back after building as a young chap and only building painting and decaling my models, they still looked good but not scale real. I plan on trying weathering and clear coating my next build.
Been a NooB at this and watching on Youtube and reading a lot of forum threads here I felt I needed more info on these effects. Firstly I am from South Africa and if there is any fellow SA builders here please help me. I have been to some of our online stores and hobby shops but can’t seem to find the bottle of weathering as seen on Youtube. I am not sure if this is available locally and might have to import, or is there a product from a hardware store you can use to do the same thing. Secondly the clear coating is it the entire body you clear coat or just the decals. For now I will still be doing the brush method until I can purchase a airbrush kit. Any little tips to help my first build to be a success would be appreciated.

Hi, i’m from Brazil, always need import the products…

Show me the video, what’s name this product?

There are a few reasons for clear coating, and one is to give a smooth finish for decals, and to seal decals once they have been applied. Another reason is to get the desired finish you want, gloss, matte, flat, whatever. A clear coat can also help in the weathering process, a flat coat will generally capture more weathering powder; for a cleaner look, a gloss coat will work better.

For aircraft, I think it is common practice to put on a gloss clear coat over the entire model before decals, and once the kit is finished, apply a dull coat.

Don’t know about the importing. I am in the U.S., and have ordered Flory washes from the U.K., but mostly buy from retailers here. Check the online retailers to see about shipping to you.

Hope this helps, and welcome back!

Here is the video on Youtube I watched.
