Non-US Attack Helicopters

Hey guys,

Ok, my interest has been piqued after seeing the Italeri Tigre kit over at The Hangar and I’m thinking about building other nations’ answer to the Attack Helicopter. I’ve got the Tigre on order and was wondering two things: Firstly, is there a 48th kit available of the A-129 Mangusta, and second didn’t Monogram do a 48th Mi-28 kit in the late 80s/early 90s? I’ll probably end up getting the Italeri Ka-50 kit at some point too.

Thanks guys!

Jon

Sorry went though some sites and asked some firends, but it seems that the only kit for the Mangusta is Italeri’s 1/72 one; no 1/48.
But I seem to recall there was a resin kit … if I find out something I’ll get back to you.

I did not find any Augusta-Mangusta in 1/48 scale(( I like the beast very much too.

I am afraid there is no Mi-28 in 1/48 scale ether ((

Revell’s Ka-50 and Italeri’s one is the same thing. Cant say its “accurate” but for 15 year old kit its not too bad. I might help you on this one with some good reference pics.

Thanks guys! I’m tooling around with the idea now, just to compare designs. I’ve got enough Apaches (can one ever truly have enough Apaches around?) for right now and I want to look at the different approaches various nations/manufacturers have come up with for similar roles.

I remember building that 1/48 MI-24 years ago. It was quite detailed, but the parts required a lot of trimming and some extra filling on seams was needed. All told, though, it was an impressive kit, including a troop compartment and excellent detail in both cockpits… And I do believe it was Monogram … maybe one would show up on eBay.

There is a Mi-24 Hind made by Trumpeter in 1/48 and 1/35, It’s a new mold and more accurate than Monograms. Trumpeter also makes the HIP and a Chinesse attack helicopter that looks a lot like the French Dophine (also availanle in Coast Guard markings!). Check them out you may like what you see.[:D]

If you are interseted in one and can’t find it I may be able to get you one.

I think Italerari did make an 1/48 Mangusta, but only for a short time.

Which version of the Tiger did you order: the PAH-2 or the HAP? I have both kits in 1/48th from Italeri, and Eurocopter Canada was kind enough to send quite a bit of reference material to help detail them. Once they are completed, the company’s PR director is interested in seeing photos of them, and asked if it would be possible to bring them there for show.

Wolf,

Its the PAH-2. Didn’t realize there was a HAP kit out!

Italeri kit No 842: Eurocopter HAP-Tigre. It came out the same time as the company’s PAH-2 Tiger, but didn’t stay on the shelves very long and was discontinued the same year. (Both versions were also available in 1/72nd scale.) Both kits shared many of the same parts, with the exception of the nose and upper cowling, which provided the space for the gun turret and roof-mounted optics, respectively. One glaring error that Italeri committed (and isn’t obvious with a quick glance) was failing to move the wings back along the fuselage to compensate for the chin gun’s extra weight. A friend of mine who had bought two kits of the PAH-2 wanted to convert one to a HAP-Tigre, so I cast off the necessary parts in Alumilite. Needless to say, he was a very happy fellow. [:D]
