No award winner but it's Priceless to me.

Hello and happy Father’s day to all. This is an original Monogram B-25 Gunship that my father helped me construct when I was 7 or 8 years old. As I am now 42 it has traveled the world with me and suffered a few missing parts and dirt from many many moves. I remember telling my father how cool the face was and he begrudgingly paid the high price of $3.25 to make me content. The store is long gone but my memories whenever I see this model are going to last forever. It now hangs in my sons room gathering dust with dignity. Just thought I would share and see if anyone else has a model or 12 that means something more.[:I]

Happy to see it Aaron! What a blast!

Glad it’s safely in the family…any thoughts of restoration?

so when can i hang that back up?[#offtopic]can find my 1/72 blackhawk instructions need to clean room

Wow, how did it survive for soo long?

Thats awesome but my first models have long disapeared I’m afraid.

Mike

As you said, Aaron, priceless…That bird has more value than a 1/32 Tamiya F-16 with all of the A/M goodies.

Aaron, I know what you mean. Any time I see an Avenger or a Dauntless it takes me back. Don’t have the origionals though[V] but I’ll always have the memories.

Chris

Im agree!

Aaron man! That’s a beautiful airplane… rather to be loaded with a bunch of 250lb bombs, it’s loaded with a ton of memories!

from all my 40 airplanes I build when I was a kid, survived only one! this tinny Lodela’s Hs123 1/72. (besides to be the only survivor it was my very first kit builded, I was like 6 or 7)

I shouldn’t say this but sometimes I think that my tinny 123 have more value than my Fw200 or Betty, I usualy say that all my planes are my sons and whan Im asked what’s my favoreite I use to say all are my favorites!. But sometimes when I watch my 123 it came a ton of memories… i know… i know… im quite sentimental.

Aaron thanks for this post, it reminds me to install a shelf for my 123 in my office, right now I have it in my desk.

Wow…cool post. Amazing that it has survived this long…and in pretty good shape !!!

Aaron,

I wish that I had some of the old kits that my dad helped me with, but they are long gone, and I lost ny dad in 1995. I have managed to obtain many of the old kits, and I will build them in his honor one day, but I would trade my entire stash to have one of those that he hleped with back again! Take good care of that B-25, one day it will belong to a great-great grandson!

I’m glad everyone can see it for what it is. It is easy enough to replace the missing parts as the Reveille kit is pretty much the same mold. That would be as far as I would restore it though. Little things like my mother’s nail polish that he hijacked to use as paint are all part of it’s charm to me. I will fix the broke stuff and hang it back up as my son is missing it.[:I] I have a lot of broken and tattered creations that I need to restore as I moved 19 times in 21 years in the Army. [sigh] When you see an old kit that has been around for so many years, at least to me it is like hearing an old song and takes me back just like the music. I hope I brought back some good memories for everyone!

Your one lucky guy to still have a model you built as a kid. There are so few of us that can say that. Very cool.

I actually still have a bunch of them in various states of disrepair. My mother put all of them in a box after I joined the Army and gave them back to me 10 years later when she cleaned out the basement. I really should fix them all up. I really get a kick at looking at all the glue spots, upside down decals and bb gun holes in some cases.[:O]

Aaron-

That is way cool! I wish I still had some that I built as a kid. But, in a moment of feeble-mindedness, I decided to throw them away many years ago. If I had a penny for every time I have regretted that decision, I would be able to buy myself a real F-16!

Thanks for sharing this with us, very cool indeed! [tup]

She definately looks a little “war weary”, but the memories are priceless. I wouldn’t even consider “restoring” it. It has more value to you just the way it is now.

Looks very well done!I think you should fix it up a bit!

Bingo! Brought back a few memories on this end, too. Even though the kits are long gone, the memories still survive. Thanks much for sharing this! [tup]

NICE POST !

It is not just piece of plastic - it has memories.

As a regular aircraft needs a maintenance this one is no exception. It is worth adding some extra stuff there, maybe be repaint it ?Maybe a major restoration ??

I don’t know what bother’s me more, the fact the Monogram B-25 H is that old or that I have the kit and never built it, yet! I still have about about 8 models I built while in HS, I graduated in 1968. They are all Monogram with some extra detailing on the old Dautless, Wildcat, and Corsair. The others are the P-51B, P-47D, P-40B, P-39, and P-38. How they survived all these years and several moves is beyond me. A couple need new decals but otherwise all are intact.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
