Nitto 1/100 727 finished

Here is the 1/100 Nitto 727 in Mexicana colors. I filled the cabin windows with clear resin and sanded them smooth. The windshield is the kit part and the eyebrows are decals. I had Mike Vyukil (Vintage Airliners Decals) make some vinyl window masks for the model from some CorelDraw artwork I supplied. I put on three coats of model Master flat white followed by one coat of the Testors square bottle gloss white, with lots of drying time between coats. The decals are more CorelDraw artwork drawn based on photos and are a sort of composite, no two Mexicana 727’s were painted the same and the markings are to the taste of the person who will end up with the model. The decals were printed on a Dell 1250C color laser printer. Two coats of Future sealed everything up.

Beautiful bird! I really like the lines of the 727. I flew on a Mexicana 727 in 1992 as a freshly graduated high school senior, heading to Mazatlan for a graduation gift. This looks strikingly similar to the aircraft I flew on, the tail was dark green and the returning flight it was dark tan.[Y]

Real nice work with the paint and over all finish well done

Beautiful all around job, a fine tribute to the old “Three Holer,” a real classic. I miss seeing them in the skies. Thanks for the post and photos.

Hello John!

A beauty of an airliner! I’m currently building one for my bro, I wish mine looked as clean as yours does! Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Very nice!

Looks great!

Thanks, everyone, you are all very kind.

Great result John. Your paint work has a great finish!

Hmmm;

I have a soft spot for this bird . My first flight was out of L.A.X. to San Francisco . Whatta rotation at take-off . I wish I had a picture of all those startled faces ! . T.B.

Very nicely done, John. Nice, clean, smooth finish and an interesting subject.

Oops, double post!

Still looks great though!

Well, thanks again again[:D]

Beautiful build. This is where I want to get to with my airliner builds. Clean and crisp.

Thanks, John.
