Ok, here is the deal. All of the 1/48 Nieuport 21bis - 27 rounded fuselage kits are OOP. So I either wait for one to come up at evil-bay or I act like a modeler and create my own. I am a graduate of the “Michael L Fritz” school of modeling and when scratch building or converting a subject I tend to build several examples to get one or two items.
Having said that I must also say that I am a graduate of the “Rudy Turner” school of think lazy. Quite simply, ". . .get the job done right but do it in the most common sense method possible. I chose to do a conversion and to start with an Eduard Nieuport 23. It is proportionally correct to hang the rounded fuselage dressings on. This is the basis of the real original Nieuport 21bis & 24 prototypes. The tailskid housing was deleted on the type 27. So here is my first attempt.
Thank you for your kind words. Its just plastic modeling “old school”. You simply use a skin from plastic sheet stock with a ball point pen as a stylist.
Here is my impression of a spinning rotary using a clear disc painted opaque metal plate on the back and various shades of translucent black and grime on the front. The front spinning streaks are done while the disc is attached to a dremel motor tool to get the spinning blur that occurs ith the rotary.
Here the Nieuport conversion to the 24bis continues. You see that its not going to be full aircraft build. I am also including scratchbuilt landing undercarriage.
