Nice big Blue Impulse dio at Shizuoka Hobby Show (pic)

Here’s another dio that caught my eye at the Shizuoka Hobby Show last weekend (how couldn’t it?):
Here’s the 1/48 diorama:

The Herc was lit and props were spinning.

My only question: What do they do with this when it’s not at shows? I’m sure there’s a good answer…I shoulda asked 'em!

Nice dio! As for what they do with it when it’s not on display: it’s made up of at least six seperate plates. My guess is they separate those and slide them into some wooden or aluminium transport case, right above eachother. That’s how the model railroad boys do it. Easiest thing would be to leave the planes glued in place. Just an idea, don’t know what they ACTUALLY do, lol.

Here in France I’ve seen a guy whose passion was apparently aerobatic teams, I mean he displayed at least five teams I can remember ( in 1/72 but…) He occupied 4 meters of table with his runway and he must equally own a comfortable modelling room.

Really impressive… Reminds me of my Blue Angels and Patrouille de France sets…

Very cool! That is an impressive set-up. What’s the red and white plane in the right foreground?

It looks like a Mitsubishi F1 Lemonjello.

I do believe that is an F-1, as Lonh said.

Ya know, when the show was over and we were all packing up our stuff, I forgot to see how they packed it all up…it was quick, though!

Actually, because the plane is a two seater, I’d say it was a Mitsubishi T-2, not the F-1 singe seater. Not an expert on these, but I do know Fujimi made a nice model of the T-2 in 1/48. I have seen one in ‘Blue Impulse’ version at the local hobby shop. If only I could get a decent replacement cockpit for it, I’d be tempted. Nice looking plane.

Correct! Two-seater is T-2, single-seater is F-1.
