Nice job Eric! Can you tell us more about it? Are those wheels in the kit? What’s your formula for such a nice paint job?
M.
Hey MBiE …
Very nice job on that '63 Corvette, and also, welcome to the FSM community forum(s) !
I also clicked on the link to your web site … nice, will come back again soon when I have time to explore.
I don’t think this a paintjob for the beginner. [:p]
All painted with Tamiya Acrylic paint.
I think the secret for my paintjob is that i thin the paint with cellulose thinner ( i don’t know, is this the English word for it ).
I make a mix of 3/4 thinner and 1/3 paint so this is very thin.
After the work on the body like sanding and filling I aplied a base coat.
Then I sprayed some flat alluminium (XF-16) on it.
Over the flat alluminium i sprayed a thin layer of clear blue (X-23).
And finished the job with some wet layers of clear red (X-27).
Thats all folks [:o)]
The problem with this clearcoats is that you must spray even coats.
PS I didn’t polished the car, it turned out just like this.

Eric [:D]
Oh Yes, the wheels, they are a part of the kit, but I did use some other tires, i Thin they came from a Toyota Celica GT.
What Japanese cars are good for [:p]
The wheels and also the valve covers are painted with Tamiya clear red and clear blue.

That’s great, another beautiful paint job. Thanks for the info on how you did it. After a little more practice I think I’ll give it a try.
Very nice paint. Is that Bare Metal Foil on the window frame or paint?
N.
That looks like the real thing…amzing paint job!
