Nice! I’ve thought about building one of those, but the paintwork kinda scares me. I wanted to get some of Mike Grant’s smoke ring decals, but I heard they’re OOP.
OOP already? Wow, it seems like those just came out about a year ago. If I’d have had them I’d have used them on this kit. Getting the paint mixed right and then spraying it was a chore I don’t care to repeat anytime in the near future.
Lookin’ good HK. The rings look good. I did not have the nerve to try that when I bulit the Mc 205 a while back and used the M Grant decals. They are still listed on his web site.
All done. Kinda fun project really. Mostly OOB but for the addition of Ultracast exhausts.
Paint is MM enamels. Weather, what there is of it is MIG oils and pigments. No big problems with the kit. As mentioned before, the gun trough panel on the nose don’t fit very well. The rear of the canopy has a gap in back of it and the fuselage but I don’t know is that is right or not.
These are neat aircraft and I might do another sometime, this time using some more AM stuff.
Actually, I’d like to do a line of them. Maybe a 200 and a 205 to join this one.
The rear stabilizers don’t fit to well but it’s easy to fix with some Mr. surfacer 500. This one was a quicky, not even a week with maybe an hour a night then that many hours again today.
Very nice job HK. That is one clean and sharp looking aircraft and your skill with the AB is outstanding on the smoke rings. I have the same kit and have been practicing with doing those rings every time I paint but think I would go with decals if I can. Very brave of you to finish it that way.
