LOL - I preface the question with (newbie) and apoligze for the simple question.
I am buiding the Tamiya P47D Razorback and have the plane all painted and the machine guns all painted. And am wondering 1) what glue shoudl i be using here and 2) how do i glue these two painted parts together that go into a very tight small holes and not screw up my finished paint job?

Maybe the tiniest amount of PVA (Elmer’s).
Should i have installed it an dtghen painted it in place? Or did I choose correctly in installing after painting? What woud dyou have done? Just looking to learn form you guys.

Yes I would have installed them 1st,and then carefully painted them in place
If you know the glue points you can paint them while still on the sprues the touch up if needed after installing them.
I add small details like that after painting, like you did. However, you should remove the paint from the gluing surface. CA glue is incredibly strong for gluing plastic to plastic. It will stick to paint too, but the paint does not adhere to plastic as well as the glue, so at the slightest touch the paint bond will fail and the gun will fall off.
I use the thicker gel CA because the thin stuff requires a perfect fit and the guns are usually not perfectly round. To remove the paint I clean the hole by running a small drill (the next size up from the pin on the gun) through the hole. If you paint the gun befire you put it in, do not paint the mounting area. If the item is very small I often paint it after it is mounted.
So like in the case of this gun going into the hole. I am assuming that you apply the gel glue to the part before inserting and how do you avoid getting any glue onto your ‘finished’ areas. I wasnt able to get it in cleanly without getting some glue where i didnt want to. Thanks. RichieV
