Hi all, just turned 18 and Mom has granted me my wish and let me join FSM. I am new to model making and really love it! I need to learn bout gap filling (Ex: wings to fuselage), i am using extra thick cyanoacrylate but no matter how careful I am I sand some of the surrounding area, the glue is much harder than the plastic and takes alot of sanding, I add little drops with a needle to gap and fill it pretty nicely I think but when it comes time to sand it smooth, well… I have read some bout milliput, squadron green, squadron white,Testor’s contour putty, I cannot afford to try everything and need expert advice from the pros, also read bout adding acetone? and red paint?? sry 4 being such a noob but…Anyhoo, model building is sooo cool, talk about teaching control and patience,[:)]. Anyhoo, hope i’m not bugging the big guys with such a newb question, but… “I just got to, mister!” Thankyou
william first welcome. you will enjoy the forums. now for the putty question. i use squadron green if i want the putty to set up quickly. it works good. i cut a couple of pieces of tape to keep the putty away from the surrounding area and then let it rip.

Hello William, Welcome to the forum. You can do a search for “Putty Filler” by using the search option in the upper right hand corner. You’ll get better results if you use the advanced option set to “any word” and set the dates fro 2000 to 2005 at the bottom of the advance searcxh page. You’ll have plenty to read.[;)]
Hi William
Welcome to the site. I am quite sure you will find out all you need to know here. A great bunch with lots of knowledge.

Welcome to FSM!
Welcome to the Forums [#welcome]. There are a lot of putties & a lot of opinions but I think Squadron White is arguably the most popular. I mostly use a product called Porc-A-Filler from Home Depot, but I also keep a tube of Squadron White handy.
Regards, Rick

welcome aboard william!
I use squadron white and sometimes, liquid tube glue.
I mask off the surrounding areas to avoid rivet or panel line deatails being sanded off.
sorry fightnjoe… I just thought it humorous…[:D]

I used to use squadron white, but then I switched over to a special limited brand of acrylic glop stuff. (I found it at a model competition.)
And WELCOME!!!
