Has any one enlisted with armorama.com?? if so feed back?!
Nice site. Lots of help. But it bogs down easy with all the avatars.
They call their group builds Campaigns and the site navigate a little different than this one. Sometimes they get a little snippy about stuff but on the whole they are good folks over there. Quick to help and there is sometimes a quicker response to some of the subjects compared to this one. There is a greater number of rivet counters there as well.
I’m a member and I like it. For what ever its worth.
Mike
it is free right??
yup. As free as this one.
thanks!!!
It doesn’t have the feeling of communitylike this one. I don’t find it near as friendly as this one, but there are lots of great and knowledgeable people on there. I believe major Rob is one of the higher-ups on it.
Great website.

I hang my hat there. Jim Starkweather started the site in Dec 2001 by basically posting messages at other modeling sites like Missing Links, Kithobbyist, Track-Link, rec.models.scale and others. He basically started with a blank slate and asked for in put from the first visitors. I am registered user #9. I had been looking for a place to upload photos of my equipment at work and he provided a gallery.
The site is free although some of us donate money to help run things. Several advertisers help defray costs. While this site is rather “corporate” ours is run by modelers, not because they get paid to do it, but because they enjoy it. Plus, no pop up on the home page.
All of the moderators, reviewers, editors are volunteers. Armorama has a multi-language community not found here. Everyone and anyone is free to submit reviews, quick looks, articles and photos for submission. Members get 3MB of gallery storage and an additional amount if you also register at the Armorama MSN chat site.
As far as community goes, I think the Armorama community goes much deeper than this one, perhaps more so than any other online forum. We had field trips for the New England based members, European based members and California members.
Members buy T-shirts and embroidered shirts and wear them when they go to model shows. One member is a truck dirver that has visited numerous members while in transit. One member runs an online hobby shop and goes out of his way to get stuff for other members. When’s the last time someone here gave any of you a ride in a tank?
We’ve got the rivet counters, but so do all the serious modeling sites. I tend to take them with a grain of salt.
I’m registered there. I went to it for a while without registering, and I still do. Nice site. Doesn’t have as much changing new content as I’d like, but it’s actually quite good. Highly recommended!
I’ve looked around for a while now and just have registered and posted a little. Seems to be alot of good stuff at the site as whole.
I fully agree to what Rob Gronovious said before. The only thing that I can add is that i find Armorama much more “visual” than any other site I visited. I mean that the people has the habit to post pics not only of what they are working on either to show it or to ask for comments suggestions before continuing, but also to support what they say in their posts. I’m one of the fellas that say “Is better an image than a million words” so for me Armorama is just great…
Ciao
