New Trumpeter releases

Not too much that floats my boat. Still waiting for the KV-1.

The KV’s do look interesting. If the LAV is any good, it might convince me to do something modern for a change.

A Famo and Pershing in 72nd scale!

Nice!

Ah, Jeff, you beat me to it! I was just gonna say that the 1/72 Famo might be cool. (I can’t afford the Tamiya 1/35th!). The 1/144 Karl might be okay, too. I wonder how it compares with the DML 1/44?

Does one wonder if Dragon and Trumpeter have spies working in opposite camps? i.e railguns, giant mortars and so on.

Hey, Eric, not “spies”, just “corporate observers”!! lol

How you been doin’, Dude?? Have a good Christmas? I got 6 plastic bundles and a small pe set, then picked up a DML 1/35 Maus later in the week. What a bunch of fun I’ll be having!! No complaints here!

Yes Bill, glad it is over. I got 4 armored goodies including, DML’s Pak 40 and the overdue DML King Tiger Henschel. I’m staying pat on any new purchases untill I get something finished. That will give me some insentive.

Way to go on the Henschel…long time coming, that!

I got (believe it or not) two, count them TWO, M1A1 Abrams! A DML with mine plow and a Trumpeter (yes, Trumpeter!! yaha) HA with mine roller! Don’t know when I’ll ever get around to building them. Sometime after my other Trumpeter M1A1, I’m sure! Cool stuff was an AFV SdKfz 11 Late and the DML Tiger (P).

You must be a glutton for punishment with that Trumpeter kit. Hope you have more patience than I did. That Tiger (P) does look intriguing. I myself, wish I had waited for the Bulge King Tiger with the aluminum barrel, but Greatmodels had that sale going on, so I pulled the trigger.

Meh, nothing really that sets it off. I’m just DROOLING in anticipation of their MAZ transporter and SAM 6 tank.

I myself can’t wait til the1/72 scale M-26 Pershing comes out! I’m also looking forward to all the modern Japanese tanks, the AS90 and the FAMO. Those will be great additions to my collection!

I wish someone (hello DRAGON OR DML) would make some more modern infantry. I am looking for good figure sets with m4 rifles, SAWs, M1014s, and Mk 19s. I know I can get some of these weapons in kits, but I really would just like some choice out there. I did see one kit that would have some M4A1s at least…

Hi Tigerman!..Old Bill Barber here If you can call 78 old ( and it seems everyone does!)…----I’m making one of Dragon’s huge German Railway guns (Anzio Annie aka Leopold) and seeing as how Trumpeter also has on.e…but much more detailed…more than necessary I think (RE undercarriages), I wondered if acyrlic is the way to go for the large pieces…also what color should I make the railroad stone base (light gray? Motled?, what?) …and also the railroad ties themselves. I’m trying to make the ties rather weather-worn…should they be a white-gray or what? Inasmuch a s these railway monsters were always out in the weather, I also plan to severley weather the wheels and prhaps the lower parts of the gun carrage itself. Any ideas for me? Stay healthy, everyone…I need you guys!

Hey, Bill. How’s it going??

For the roadbed, (I’ve got a miniscule 1/144 Leopold, but the theory is the same), I’m going to paint the “gravel” a mid to light grey then cover it with a fine model railroad ballast. For the 1/35, some of the courser ballast should look good. Ballast can be about any color. You can always use black, it’s pretty universal. You can even mix a little grey with it (and I mean mix it!). That’s what I did on my HO railroad a few years ago, and it looked pretty good. Ties usually don’t get grey. They have so much creosote in them they stay pretty much dark brown to black. If they weather much more than that, they get replaced. Of course, in time of war…

Good luck.

I’m looking forward to the JGSDF Type 82 6x6 Armored Car Command Vehicle myself…I’ve got a thing for wheeled trucks/armored vehicles. [:D]

Hey, Bill!!----Thanks for the great help on my Dragon rail gun! I didn’t realize that the ties don’t “grey” because of the creosote…Makes sense. I appreciate all the help. I see earlier where you said you couldn’t afford the Tamiya Famo…I’d like to get that one, too., bujt I’m on a fixed income like many others… My wife bought me the big 35 cale Tamiya Dragonwagon tank transporter`a year ago for Christmas and I loved making it. The wheels are articulated like the real one…It had hundreds of parts but the fits were so good that it really didn’t take as long as I thought it would…Again, thanks for the help! This is an amazing forum with guys like you and Tigerman and Jim Ryan and the rest…

Hi Bill, just got home. I see our other Bill has got you going in the right direction. That should be a brute. One other Bill (wbill) finished the Dragon one awhile back and may have a pointer or two for you.

To answer your paint question, I’m not sure which is best, but I prefer M.M. and Tamiya acrylics myself. The main reason is the odor and the Airbrush cleanup goes easier. Take care.

Ok Tiger—Thanks for the reply…Talk with you again soon, I hope…Bill
