The US Army Ranger mission in Mogadishu was code named Op Gothic Serpent. You should have all you need from that post to make a pretty accurate model of one of the MH-60Ls used there. What more do you need? You won’t find a numbered , step by step instructions on which parts from which kits to use on one. You have to figure it out yourself. Thats why its called model building.
The MH-60L IP is the same as an MH-60G. It is a hybrid glass and analog panel. It looks like this:

I think I just mis-stated my question. It would be helpful for the manufacturer to say have an instruction manual that showed what was and was not on the copter at that time. Example, like having option A being a mogadishu bird, B being Gulf war, C being Iraq Freedom, etc. Not that I’m lazy, but it would make construction a little easier. Also, when dealing with special forces, it’s harder to come up with information. I have found little info over the internet about 160th SOAR birds and fewer pictures. I know it’s not exactly classified info, but there is just far less than a normal unit. I wasn’t exactly sure what upgrades were made to DAP’s and if the 160th made further upgrades themselves. Yes, the info you gave me was pretty much comprehensive, but I’m also thinking of another person that wouldn’t be able to locate the same info, etc. It seems that there are a lot of people that are unsure with Gothic Serpent MH-60’s, that’s really all I was trying to say. And another thing is I’m always looking for more pictures because I like scratchbuilding details. readily available information is less than what I need, so I end up trolling trough tons of internet material to find the answers. Honestly, without these forums I’d be blissfully assembling the kit, hellfires, probes, etc. and having a heart-attack later. So essentially, my wish is just for a kit that had a little more in the interior detail department, and instructions suited for that era. That’s pretty much it.
I hear you and know what you are saying. The 160th SOAR info is out there, you just have to dig for. I wouldn’t want a manufacturer to do it in their instructions. I have never seen an instructions that has the right info to begin with. They would just screw it up and continue the trend of inaccurate models, like the Academy AH-60L DAP. There is no such helo. The US doesn’t have an AH-60, as you know, its the MH-60L DAP. Or the yellow decals in the DAP kit - WTF? Or how about the extra .50 cal door gun mounts on the Academy MH-60G. This was only a test set-up on a few helos (actually only 1 I can find) around the time of ODS. It wasn’t used operationally as it cut down usable space to nothing and just about maxed out the weight of the aircraft. If you follow Academy’s directions, you have a bunch of what-if helos. I’ll take the time to do the research myslef and get them right.
