Hi there all,
I am new to this forum, and somewhat new to modeling, so thought to say hi. I am posting in the “armor” forum as it is my favorit topic, particulary German WWII armor.
My question is which online store is safe to order from? You know what I mean, giving away credit card number over the internet to people I don’t know. I like the selection of tanks on squadron.com. I went to tamiyausa.com, so many tanks are discontinued, why bother having them pictured? Has anybody ordered from these two? Which online store would you recomend?
Thanks a bunch for your comments. Maybe I will post some pictures of my first diorama soon.
Cheers…
Welcome.
I’ve had real good experiances with Squadron and Great Models web stores. They have never let me down over years of orders. I’m also lucky that in the Denver area we have an exellent local hobby shop, (Colpar Hobbies) that gets most things in stock, and we can look at them too.
Good luck and enjoy yourself.
Doug

As far as online stores Squadron is good. There are other major stores like Internet Hobbies, Megahobby and quite frankly…look at the ads in this site.
Worrying about your card on the internet is another story. I tend to use pay pal as much as possible but…in this day and age, make sure the site is secure.
My modeling area is US artillery, AFVs & support equipment so I’m not the best guy to talk the best places to find German models. I’m sure some of my “Germaholic” friends will post a note shortly and lead you to a good place.
Again, welcome to our friendly virtual arsenal. Look forward to seeing you more and your work.
Rounds Complete!!
Ideally seek for a possible local hobby store first and check them out. Same as above as everyone else has said. I even call and give the card number that way too.
Oh, and welcome aboard!!! [tup]
Welcome aboard! All of the sites mentioned are safe. I’ve used Mega-Hobby.com, Luckymodel.com, and hobbylink.com quite a bit. Check at their sites, and enjoy.
Welcome to the site. I’ve never had a problem using a credit card on the net. It’s really no different from a mail order house or phoning in an order. I mean do you REALLY know the person you’re giving your number to is honest. HELL NO! But still, I try to use Paypal whenever possible.
As for shops, also try http://www.spruebrothers.com/. Good prices, inventory and fast shipping. And http://www.luckymodel.com/ is also excellent. Just make sure, if you want it fast, that the item is listed as ‘In Stock’ and not just ‘Available’.
Hi, and welcome to the forum. Your sig doesnt say where your from. Im from the UK and use Hannants. Theyre great, have huge stocks of everything. They just take a little time delivering.

I’ve used Greatmodels many times with no problem. Some places take Paypal, which is quite safe. Glad to have you.
I can recommend www.spruebrothers.com as a great online shop. I like their site, and the shipping is fantastically fast. I placed an order at 7:00 am and got a shipping confirmation at 8:30. Also, their inventory system is real-time, so you always know if what you’re considering is in stock. They’re great!
I’ve also ordered from Squadron, and I was not impressed. I think their site is horrible, and they shipped my stuff parcel post, so it took 5 weeks to get here (Hawaii). Sprue Brothers sent my order Priority Mail for around the same price, and I had it in 4 days.
Hope this helps,
Justin
Welcome to the forum!
Welcome to the forum
Sprue Bros, is my absolute 1st stop online for the reason Justin stated. While others have said they never had a problem with gret Models… I have never order that wasn’t a problem and they are low on my list. Squadron si pretty reliable
If you have a local hobby shop, I am a big supporter of “Support your LHS”. If my LHS doesn’t have it, or can’t get it… that’s when I hit Sprue Bros.
