New to the forum, but I’ve been modeling for a few years.

Greetings everyone! It’s a treat to find a supportive and knowledgeable forum community.

I started modeling as a child, between 8-12. I didn’t know what I was doing at the time and as many of you probably did as well…I royally screwed them up.

Now, many many years later…I make my return in 2017. The age of YouTube and forums have made learning what I’m supposed to be doing a breeze. I’m honing my techniques, learning from my mistakes, and my models are starting to come out how I imagined they should. But, I’m always looking to improve.

I’ll be around on the forums asking questions, giving praise, and sharing my limited knowledge on modeling when I can. I strive to improve my modeling with each new kit.

Greetings!

Welcome to the group!

Welcome to the forums, Rev_Barabbas!

Do you have a favorite subject?

I like looking forward to seeing your builds!

My two main subjects are WWII to Modern military aircraft and anything science fiction. I also will do any type of model as long as the build is interesting.

I was originally wanting to do a lot of submarine builds, but unfortunately those models aren’t exactly an extensive subject. WWII subs aside, most of them are simple tubes and the paint schemes are too simplistic. I know they’re really a study in weathering most of the time, but I just lost interest in them.

I am currently working on the final stages of a 1/72 Revell F-5B in the Spanish Air Force livery, starting work on two Bandai 001 Star Destroyer models that I got aftermarket decals for (Admiral Thrawn’s, and a standard one). As soon as I finish those I have a K-7 Space Station from Star Trek TOS that I need to paint.

I have a stack of old AMT/Ertl Star Trek models in my stash, a 1/32 Colonial Viper (moebius) from the original Battlestar Galactica with PE and the lighting kit, a 1/48 Hasegawa Harrier with PE, and some assorted 1/72 modern fighter jets. So I already have an unhealthy backlog to get through (heh).

I’m trying to build up my airbrushing skills currently, and I recently had a breakthrough. I’m finally getting some really solid line work and I’m able to control my overspray much better.

This is the F-5B. It was my first attempt at spraying a metal color. This build is far from accurate and I’m definitely not happy with the results…but I’m learning.

Nice plane! Welcome to the Forums!
