First of all, welcome to FSM.
Second, try to choose the type of vehicle you have interest in and would like to model (ex., aircraft, armor, ships, figurs, cars, etc.) It is very important that you are highly interested in the things you model.

Tell me about it! MadModelFactory showed me a resin figure that requires you to paint a 1/8th scale bowl of ramen! hehehe… Oh, and welcome to the asylum, BSquires! I can’t think of anything else that someone has not already said… maybe you can build a car/plane/tank/ship/x-wing from your favorite movie. One of the reasons i love B-17s so much is because of the movie “Memphis Belle”!

Welcome aboard, BSquires. The others are right, it could help if you pick a specific interest, but you can also build aircraft, armor, figures and ships at the same time. Think of one subject that fascinates you more than the others (e.g. F-14) and you can start with that.

Welcome abord the FS Modeler BSquires! Well, in the words of Marilyn Manson, “Everythings been said before. Nothing left to say anymore.” It’s always easier to do something that interests you. If you are ABSOLUTLY new you may not want to go get an expensive model. Let us know of your progress. Everyone loves pics here. Especially me. Hee hee.
