I am brand new to building models. I am building an oil and gas pipeline faci as a scaled model for a project in a college course. I’ve researched some very good ideas but could use some help finding the best sites to order things like pipeline valves, tubing, fittings, and other things that I may need. Also a site for tips on how to’s for newbies like me would be great. I am excited to learn this craft and what all I’m going to build.

What a coincidence! I applied for a job back in the '70s at an Industrial model building business building oil and gas refinery models. Brought in samples of my work and they thought they were great but no sheepskin so no job. Don’t know where they got their supplies but I do know that they bought parts by the case. Pipes in scale 12", 24" etc., Valves in all sizes. I had thought that they had to make it all by hand. Dummy me.
I think that a company called Evergreen Scale Models has those parts. Check them out.
