New to FSM

Greetings all,
Just subscribed to FSM after about 25 years. I was only a fledgling modeler in my teens and early twenties. Being semi retired at age 55, I’ve decided to revisit the hobby that was such a joy for me in my youth. Main interest is 32nd scale WWII aircraft ( not much to choose from ). You guys have such a good time on this forum, I thought I’d jump in and ask a few questions to help me get started.
I’ll be spending the next few months acquiring tools of the trade and building myself a dedicated workbench. My first question though is about airbrushes. I’ve pretty much decided on an Iwata Eclipse, as many of you guys rate them highly. I could use a little advise about type (ie gravity fed CS, side cup SBS, or the bottom siphon type. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hail from Stratford, Ct.
Great to be here,
ronj

Hello and welcome ronj.
Glad to have ya.

Welcome to FSM Ron and welcome back to the hobby.

Unfortunately, I can’t really answer your question. But if you post this in the Paint Forum, there are some guys and gals in there that use the Eclipse.

Enjoy the forums.

RonJ,

Nice to have a 32 guy. I’m looking forward to seeing some BIG pictures!!

Enjoy your new airbrush (whatever you choose.)

Murray

Happy to have you with us Ronj. Am sure some guys knowledgeable in them airbrush will come around and answer your questions.

Welcome to FSM.

Welcome to the forums ronj,

I do not have the Iwata but, I do have the Badger Anthem 155 (bottom siphon) I would like to recommend bottom syphon type because, the paint jars are a bit larger, thus holding more paint.

Nothing wose than doing a killer spray then having to stop to refill the jar. They may make larger side jars for the Iwata. Would be a good question for the Painting forum.

Hello,

I have an Iwata Eclipse and I have not had any problems with it. I’ve only had bottom siphon airbrushes and I don’t have any complaints about them.

Steve

Welcome to FSM and the forum pages, Ronj. Hope you find it useful.
