My name is Marc and I am a scale model builder enthusiasts who has been assembling plastic models on and off since I was a child. I have built a variety of modeling subjects, but primarily military aircraft, science fiction, space exploration, and figures hold my interest. I am retired from active duty with the U.S. Air Force, so military aircraft subjects are of special interest to me; especially WWII aircraft. Nothing is off the table however, and I will build almost anything if I get interested in the subject. I have been around other modeling forums for many years now, but this is my first visit to the FSM forums. I look forward to engaging in your discussion topics, contributing, and learning from your respective experiences.
Hi Marc! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!
Thank you for your service!
I build all the same things that you do. I’ve been building them for 69 of my 75 years. Most of the members on here arrived the same way you did. They are very knowledgeable and ready to help you with any questions/problems you have. With your military background, they will probably be coming to you for help.
So, sit back and have a few sips of your favorite brew [C] [B] [D] [t$t] and build away. Enjoy.
Thank you Jim for the warm welcome! I am happy to help out a fellow modeler any way I can. As far as military experience, I was an aircraft electrical and environmental craftsman and have worked on heavys like the C-5A and C-5B Galaxy, C-141B Starlifter, and C-130 (E models). I have also worked on (and flown in) the F-16 (block 40’s). I might have some useful input on these airframes in particular.
Greetings and welcome to the forums. It is indeed wonderful to have you join us here. I assure you that the folks here are friendly, cordial and always willing to help. You’ll find a wealth of information, reference, talent and skill. Not to mention it’s just plain fun around these parts.
One thing I would recommend is to look at the forums home page, which lists all the forums. Sometimes when you have a question, or are looking for help, there may be a forum that is not one of your regular ones, but may be a big help in answering the question- more so than the general discussion pages. Also, be sure to check out the tools, techniques, and reference materials section. Some of the forums in that section are real gems, but being near the bottom of the forums page many folks do not even know they exist!
Thank you Don! I will definitely follow your recommendations. I have already done a lot of exploring here, but there is a ton of content! This may take a while… [;)]
Thank you for your service and a hearty welcome to FSM, Marc. Guaranteed you’ll find much of interest, lot’s of great builds to see and plenty of tech info.
Don makes a good point- take the time to look in on all of the forums. I happen to be mostly in “Ships”, before that “Aircraft”, and I really like to check out “Armor” and “Dioramas”.
You would have enjoyed knowing Bernie, who flew West about 4 years ago.
Try finding his posts, that guy knew nore about Phantoms than anyone I’ve ever “met”.
Oh, and I was never a General in the Air Force, so we can be friends.
