Hi everyone. I am brand spankin’ new to a/c, have been exclusive to figures and a little armor. However, I could not pass up the $9 Revell F-4J Phantom Blue Angel. All I know is that if I saw a $9 Revell tank, I’d keep right on walking. But I figured this would be a decent chance to dip into this world of aircraft. If I do it right, I could give it to somebody like my father. Screw it up, and I could toss it out guilt free. What should I know about this kit before I start? Did I buy a DAWG, or is it a fairly respectable kit? Any other advice to an a/c newbie? thanks, SteveM
Welcome, As for the kit i havent built it but if this is the 1/48 scale one heres a review for you.
I built a Revell f4 a few years ago, as I recall it was a pretty decent kit. No fit problems that I can recall. It was a good representation of an f4 detail is pretty good and you can always dress it up with AM parts. Depends on how deep you want to get into it on your first aircraft kit.
Thanks for the review link. Speaks highly enough for it. Enough for me to go ahead and open the darn thing. As far as AM goes, I am quietly chanting to mysef, " Out-of-box. Out-of-box". However, I was hoping (naive as I am) for recessed panel lines. I’ve read about ridding of the raise panel lines, but I don’t feel anywhere good enough to tackle such an endeavor. I feel like getting this thing together inside of a year. I’ll know enough next time to research for that feature. I can already say that I don’t care much for the blue molding. Hard to see detail.
