ok well im geting back into models after about a 10 year break ( i have lots of free time now ) i picked up a tamyiya 1/35 M1A1. well got to looking and im sure that there are alot of cool things to do to it where would be a good place to try and get an interior for it and maybe a power plant mock up? thank you for your time
Verlinden did an update set for Academy’s M1A1. It had some turret and drivers area interior as well as PE for the exterior, among other things. And I believe Legends makes some powerpack stuff for M1s.
The verlinden set is not compatible with the Tamiya kit. I tried and none of the resin interior stuff would fit.
A quick search reveals this, Verlinden 1/35 M1A1 Detail Set (w/Resin & Photo-Etched for TAM) Which appears to give the basic internals.
I once heard a hobby shop owner remark (tongue-in-cheek): Verlinden is French for “it doesn’t fit”… [:o)]
The Verlinden set above is mostly fictional and doesn’t fit well into the turret. Unfortunately, there is no other AM interior set for it. I used the DML partial interior that comes in their older M1A1/A2 kits and scratched the rest for mine. You can see it here.
For the engine compartment, there are a few sets out there. The CMK set is the best and most complete. It looks great.
