Seeing’s how the IJA/IJN GB is winding down, and was a lot of fun, its about time for me to start thinking about what I want to host next…I’ve got a few ideas…
[*]With all the new 1/48 releases that I’ve been drooling over like the Special Hobby Boomerang, Wirraway, and Spitfire Vc, as well as the AZModels Vengeance, an Australian WWII GB might be fun, and there are a lot of choices for kits.
[*]Along similar lines, a Dutch WWII GB would be interesting, and we hardly ever see these planes built. Possible kits could include CW-21s, CW-22 (SNJ Falcons), Do 24s, Hurricanes, Buffalo, and Fokker D.XXIs, and anything else you can think of that the ML-KNIL flew.[tup]
EDIT: The Dutch WWII GB idea and the Australian WWII GB idea have been combined into a SEAC GB idea.
[*]An Italian WWII GB would be fun too. There’s a lot of new releases that look great that would work here too, and we’ve already had some discussion about this one in the IJA/IJN GB. ANR and ACI builds could also fit here, as well as anything captured by the Italians.
[*]Finally, a Nordic WWII GB would be very interesting. Anything from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. There are more builds than you’d think that would fit here, like Gladiators, He 115s, Do 17s, Blenheims, Hampdens, Lysanders, Buffalo, Hawks, Spitfires, Mosquitos, PT-19s, PT-20s, B17s, B18s, J22s, N-3PBs, and more!
If you’ve been in a GB with me before you’ll know that I’m more interested in the camraderie and sharing of information and techniques then in actually finishing a build by the end of the GB. Case in point, I haven’t finished my IJA/IJN build yet, as I’ve been taking my time, and waiting for a replacement airbrush needle and camera screen. [:I]
If you’re interested in one of these GBs, let me know, and we’ll see what we can get started. I’m thinking of a start date of February 1st, 2009 and staying active until October 1st, 2009.
Any and all comments are welcome. This is a sounding-ideas-out thread, so let’s hear what you think! [tup]
SEAC WWII GB: 3
Italian WWII GB: 6
Nordic WWII GB: 0
Cheers,
Alex
