New Roden C-5 kit

I just saw this at Mega Hobby.

https://www.megahobby.com/products/preorder-c-5b-galaxy-military-transport-aircraft-1-144-roden.html

It says its an all new tool. This is the 1st I’ve head of it.

Does anyone have any more info?

Will it have any interior?

will the flaps/slats have optional positions?

Will it have any detail?

Thanks

Mark

WOW, for that price that bird better come with a maintenance crew. I don’t know anything about it but NUTS I want one. Have a GREAT day.

Holy gazongas, the price is a shocker! The kit’s development has been followed on other sites for a couple of months now. What we do know is that the flaps and slats are optional position. No word if an inteior will be provided, but for that price it had better! The kit will be a C-5M, so I believe at least the engines will need changing to represent a C-5A or B. The rainbow on the box art seems incongruous to me, but my concerns are irrelevant to what is actually inside the box.

Roden makes interesting subjects, but their molds are usually rough and fine detail tends to be blobby. I have read glowing reviews of their recent C-141B kit, but aside from it being an injection molded kit, I can find few kind words for it. It has the usual Roden pebbly surfaces, the wings are thicker and broader than the roots molded to the fuselage, the “cockpit” is blanked off like a 1950s kit, and the wheel wells are devoid of any detail, save for ejector pin marks and heavy flash around the door hinge cutouts. The similarly blank nose wheel well fits poorly. I haven’t closely scruitinized the kit for accuracy, but I do know the escape hatches next to the aft troop doors are too high. Oh and no interior or separate cargo ramp/doors. The single AMC gray decal choice is boring as well, but Caracal Decals makes a nice sheet that covers the lifespan of the C-141, including the shorter C-141A and a NASA version. Strangely, Roden’s VC-10 airliner has smooth surfaces and abundant detail. Maybe “A team” vs “B team” efforts? I hope the C-5 is by the “A team”. But the price gives me pause. Maybe wait for Revell of Germany to do one?

It’s listed as a C-5B, The only external changes between the A/B and the M would be the engines. They could include both engines.

One site says its injection molded with clear parts and decals.

For a list price of $165 I would expect PE, window masks, optional parts, and

ground equipment!
