Hi awan!
One source I know of for Xtracolour paints is TwoBobs www.twobobs.net You could also try www.squadron.com The Flightpath detail set (I assume you are looking for the resin intake set?) is available from www.greatmodels.com, though they have it listed as a “special order” item. I wouldn’t mind having this set as well since I’m also doing the Victor but at $48, it’s pretty pricey.
$48 isn’t that bad, when you consider that it’s £29 here in the UK. You’re still getting it cheaper than I can (£26) even after it’s been shipped half way round the world!
I’m expecting my latest eBay acquisition any day now, being a Matchbox Victor, and will be getting one of the Flightpath sets before I start work on it. I understand (from the article you quoted) that the kit parts are singularly unimpressive, and you’ll save yourselves a lot of work & frayed tempers if you get the resin replacements.
I’ve bought a few of the kits directly from Mr Parkins, the guy behind Flightpath, and his sets are of the highest quality, and he’s a thoroughly nice guy into the bargain.
I gotta say, one of the main reasons I like this forum is the constant learning experience. Case in point, I never even knew this plane existed. Cripes, look at the size of that forward fuselage!
I don’t know about beautiful, but big and bold certainly fit.
What a beautiful bird… and ugly with it! I saw her do a fast taxi run soon after I took those photos too, although I was quite a way off, as I was just coming back from a close-up visit to Vulcan XH558 [:D]
i was actually looking for the intake set, and the other set that contains the photoetch parts…for the cockpit and refueler’s station, or is there only one?
Not the catchiest URL, but if you click through the various Flightpath logos & then “connect to frames version”, you can click on the 1/72 Post war RAF link, and there are all the updates he does. There’s only one listed, and precious few pictures, but I’ve never been disappointed with one of his sets.
Sarge - it’s absolutely stunning up close, and my fiancee’s just told me that the parcel containing my Victor kit has just arrived courtesy of the Royal Mail. [:D] Unfortunately, so has the invoice for my new compressor [:(]
I have a couple of these kits but would love to get ahold of the decals to do the mermaids of the gulf war… anybody know where I can snack some of these?
Yeah - I’ve got the same problem. Hannants used to do them, but they’ve been discontinued for some reason - leastways they weren’t on their website the other day when I checked. There used to be another company that did some too, but they seem to have ceased to exist.[:(]
Hi awan. You might want to check out the Ted Taylor’s website. Scroll down almost to the bottom and on the right side you will find a link to how he did his version. I think you will find this very interesting.
