This kit has a bit of flash that I still have to fix up but I have high hopes that a good panel wash will fix it right up. I figure that this will guarentee that I can’t spend time on a PE cockpit.

And I thought I worked in a small scale!

[:D]Whatta’ya usin’ fer a display base? A dime?
Two of them will go on the catapults of the USS Baltimore. I’m breaking with tradition and building a waterline ship (I have no clue WHAT I was thinking.) I thought I’d take a crack and making them look as accurate as possible in that scale.
Now my airbrush is giving me fits so I’m stopping for the night.
GOOD GRIEF! I give up! I just cant compete with this bunch…Harv
[#ditto] I tought it was a LG part at first, then realized it was THE WHOLE PLANE!!! Cannot even imagine… [V]
Got a bit more done this evening. Now I’ve just got to do some touch up and a bit of weathering.

[wow]It actually hurts just thinking about the amount of nerves and patince to detail aircraft on that scale! Amazing…
It’s easier at this scale because when you’re finished no one has magnifying eyes to look at them. As long as you get them close they look great when you’re done. I just applied an acrylic panel wash and gloss coat so I can apply the decals. I’ll post more pics when I get the stars and bars in place and spray the flat coat.
I wonder if I have any pics of the aircraft numbers that I can add. Off to check my references.
OH now that is small. WHat is that 350th? Nice paint work.
Nope 1/700 scale. I was amazed at the level of detail Trumpeter maganed to cram into such a small space.
Holy Micro Machines Batman! Are you going to paint the canopy or cut it out and fill it in with clear bits? I’m going to be doing sixteen B-25’s and a few other fighters soon in 1/350, I coudn’t imagine doing them in 1/700. Makes my eyes hurt just thinking about it. They sure look nice though.
I would have to put an Optivisor on my Optivisor to do that, how do you do it[%-)]
Way to small for my tired old eyes. Good work so far.
Regards, Rick
I’ve got a set of 1/700 B-25’s in the drawer that came with the Hornet when I built it for my son’s Midway Junior High School project (20 something years ago). Maybe I’ll try those next.
In the meantime, I’m planning to use Testor’s Chrome Silver for the canopies. I like the idea of slicing out the styrene and replace with clear parts. I might try that. The decals go on tonite and then some flat clear to seal them. I won’t be satisfied until I manage to put on those tiny stars and bars without any silvering!!
I’ve got the decals on. Need to clean up the weathering along the leading edge but it’s almost ready for final gloss coat and then flat coat. Then I’ll finish by painting the canopy.

DAMN! That is a BIG PENNY!
AWESOME!
Justin
I had that penny specially made to use as a base for the models. Here are the finished-ish (to steal a phrase from another thread because I’m never quite done with my builds either.)
Enjoy the finished aircraft. (I know they don’t look so good this magnified but I thought it was interesting to play around with the 1/700 a/c as well as with the MACRO setting on my digital camera.
We should have a 1/700 scale aircraft group build!!!

Very Nice! I would be in for a micro GB if it could include 1/350. 1/700 is just too small. You must be a vascular surgeon in your day job. [bow][;)]
Nope just a college physics professor with too much time on his hands. 1/350?? Wow!! I’ll bet we could do cockpit details inside those giants.
