It is good to hear from you. I saw your beach landing craft in a British Armor book that I bought in Niagara Falls. I’ll try to make the show. If the weather is good, I may have to make the run. I’ll let my club know too.
Good to hear from you again too. Which armour book did you pick up? As far as new project(s) I am currently working on finishing my Firefly VC. It has been a work in progress for too long. The delay has been in getting all the interior scratchbuild done for the hull and the turret. Now that that is done and ready for paint it is time to tackle the tracks. I have not built Dragon’s indy link track before, so far so good but very time consuming. The remaining projects on the bench were two figures a British Para in Normandy (90mm figure from Hinchcliffe) and a Canadian Highlander in a Flanders Trench (54mm figure from Scale Link). The next project after the Firefly is still in the works of the planning stage.
Thanks for telling you club about the show. The more attendees and entries the better. See you there.
I look forward to seeing your projects. My club is now in the loop with your show. Our fearless leader and his friends plan on being there (weather permitting), and I plan on going also. I’m looking for the co-pilots that I had for the Belleville show to see if they can go to.
Looking forward to it. Don’t forget to bring your projects for entry and of course plenty of $ there will be lots of goodies to browse through and buy. You will definitely want to tell anyone coming to pack a camera. The museum is home to one of the only two flying Lancaster bombers in the world. There is plenty of aircraft to photo for future reference. As well there are a few local shops worth checking out.
Well, I for one had a great time there today, and to think I was almost going to forego the whole ordeal:P I want to see everybodies pictures which they may or may not have handy.
Thanks for coming out! It was a great turn out. Lots of excellent work on the tables! Congratulations to all the winners! Thanks to all the entrants! Comments/Criticism of what was good and what was lacking are always welcome. These will help our club put on an even better show next year.
The club put in a lot of hours to get this year’s show together and I think it went really well. Even the weather held off so more people could make it out.
I would say that for a freshman effort, it was an very extremely well produced show. This was only the second model contest I have entered/attended, but both the quality and quantity of entries were very nice. I must add that I think the guy who won “Closed Wheel Competition”, and “Best Auto” is extremely good looking XD. I look forward to attending the second annual HeritageCon, and will hopefully take some glassware home from that show as well.
Steve Nixon was a customer of mine at the hobby store many moons ago, and his work is always awe inspiring. The amount of effort that went into his plane will no doubt serve as an inspiration to us all for many years to come. That, and the B-36, the figures-there were so many nice bits of kit it made my head spin.
The one unfortunate thing is that I didn’t get many pictures of the entrants, so I am going to ask you again to post them up!
Outstanding show. I took a 2nd (Walker Bulldog) to a pretty nice looking Merkava Mk. II. The armor entrants were of very high quality. I spent so much time looking at the museum aircraft and eating at that fine Chinese buffet up the road, I didn’t spend my normal alloted time buying stuff at the vendor tables and talking to the other modellers. One of my cohorts from Rochester took all of our pictures for us, so I probably won’t see any of them.
We’ll be there again. This show is going to replace one of our favorites that has been canceled forever in Ovid, NY.
Next time…I’ll bring a lot of colorful bills, loonies, and toonies for the vendors. The camera will be there too…the museum aircraft were outstanding…so much yellow paint.
Congrats on your win. I saw your Bulldog. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to chat with you this time. I was really sick with pneumonia and tried to avoid folks but still support the club from the sidelines.
As far as the “So much Yellow Paint” I don’t know if you knew that the yellow painted planes are all training aircraft. The BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan) during World War II Canada was virtually littered with training airfields of all shapes and sizes. Pilots of many nations trained to fly fighters to bombers and the trainers were painted in Yellow and Black.
Just a little Canadian history for you.
Glad you made it out. I will be bringing some similarly coloured bank notes to BUFFCON to leave with the vendors. So start saving your Loonies and Toonies for next years Heritagecon.
I saw Mr. Hayes and HeritageCon on Channel 14 last night-excellent stuff!
I do have a beef though, in both galleries so far, there have been almost NO automotive related shots. It’s a shame really[bh]. I was too busy all day walking around to take pictures, but am narscissitic to let it slide.
