New member from Germany says hello

Hello,

i’ve been reading across this Forum since several days and in my opinion it’s a good one. We have such a forum in Germany, maybe someone knows www.rcpanzer.de. I think it’s a good way to exchange ideas and tricks over the ocean. I’ve ordered a Tamiya Tiger I Full Option kit yesterday and cannot wait until it’s in my hobby room. 14 days ago i ordered a complet aber photo etched detail set for a very good price (179 $) in a online store in Canada (i think). If someone is interested in : www.militaryhobbies.com . I’m looking for metal tracks for the tiger but i could’nt find an exact information in this forum, could you help finding a online shop?
We have metal tracks here but it’s to soft.
I choosed the Tiger because it’s a lot of additional stuff available, such as suspension improvements, modified gears metal parts a.s.o.
If the Tiger is finished i’ll start my 1/16 Famo project, but step by step.

Ok bye bye
and greetings from Germany ( the home of Tigers

GruB Gott Herr Pabst! (Sorry, I’m using a US keyboard. B is the best I could do.)

1/16th scale FAMO?!?!? [:0] Does someone make one, or are you going to scratchbuild it?

Say, there’s a 1/16th scale group build-up for the Tamiya big Tiger on this forum – it might be a good place for you to show off your building. I’m in the Panther build, and it’s been a great incentive to get the thing done. You know how models sit unless you have a motive to finish them. I’ve had a half-painted 105mm howitzer on my work table for over a year. :frowning:

Welcome, Panzerpabst!
1/16 Famo?? Pleasem tell us more!

I have the static 1/16 Tiger with the crazy Aber set waiting to be built. Have you checked out the 1/16 Tiger I group build thread yet?

The metal tracks are readily available on eBay. They seem to go for $99.

I also bought the full Aber set for my full function R/C Tiger as well, but after studying the PE directions and thinking about the R/C usage, I decided against using the Aber set. I would freak out if the PE details got damaged because of my carelessness while operating the tank.

Luckily I found someone online who wanted the Aber set and I traded it to him for the motorized King Tiger.

There’s also a man who makes aluminum barrels for the Tiger I that are drilled out so the LED can be wired through. He sells them on eBay as well.

HI… Welcome to the forum. I can’t really help you on your question but I wish you good luck on your project… 1/16 famo indeed… hmmm

Welcome to the forum family, panzerpabst. Good to have you here with us. Hope you enjoy your stay. Of course, we are going to want to see pics of the Tiger, and that behemoth Famo.

yeah the Famo …
unfortunetly there is no kit in 1/16 available but i’am a fan of this marvelous bully half track. And so i must (scratch ) build my own one. I’am still in the planning (and money saving) phase. I will need some more tools and machines (cnc-milling machine). It’s a big project but i am decided to build that thing.
We have aluminum barrels too (and metal muzzle brakes)
Yes i have checked out the Tiger I thread, but not complete until now.
I also see a little conflict with the Aber kit and a rc model, but 1. building this Tiger will cause a lot of fun - 2. if something will be damaged while driving around, it’s just like within a combat mission, thing go kaputt (german word for broken) and 3. you can select you driving style and I think driving around the garden is not to dangerous.
Ok I see, to get metal tracks look to ebay.

Bye, bye

Welcome to the armor forum panzerpabst! You sound like a total armor nut, just the kind who’ll fit in around here. A 1/16th FAMO??? Mien Gott! I wish you luck; hope we get to see this beast in progress. By the way… they used three FAMOs to tow a Tiger I… but nah, I don’t think you’d do three… would you? [:O] Be a heck of a diorama though.

Panzer: [#welcome] from the northeast coast known as Maine , always glad to have new members here ( and ideas ) feel free to pick our brains as well , there is always someone here that could help out !.. Shawn

Welcome to the forum!

CNC scratchbuilding? Talk about German efficiency![:D]

Cheerio from your western neighbour…

Hello again and thank you all for the great welcome. It’s very nice to get all these replys, and some answered in german. OK lets do some correction (for the guys who wanted to know if it’s right):
to Poniatowski the word is Willkommen
to Aftermarket use “im” instead of “zum”, put a “es” between “Sie genießen” and it’s perfect - very polite
But I don’t want to be a smart ass, if i write nonsense please let me know.
To Aftermarket : Actual i would need three Famos to tow a Tiger but I think i have to do enough to build one  Maybe later two additional Famos or a SdAnh 116 for light tanks.
But first the Tiger I, hope the guy from parcel service is coming soon …
Ok good night for today, in Germany we have now Saturday since 3 minutes.

Bye
