NEW MEMBER AND MY PRINTED FSM DIORAMA PHOTO

HEY GUYS

just joined the forum here and would love to share some of my diorama photos,

if any one has an ancient copy of FSM March 1995 vol. 13 no. 3, you can see one ouf my dios in the Readers Gallery on pg 64 the dio is titled “Road Block Blues”

it was also printed in a copy of the now defunct “Military Modeler” in the March 1989 vol 16 no.3 issue that layout has a lot of close-up shots and a fairly complete description of tecniques and materials used in the dio.

hope you can check it out, and i will try to post some pics of my other pieces.

i haven,t built a kit in about 10 years but have kept up with FSM and all the great new stuff it keep offering to us within it pages.

i have all but a handfull of the magasines including issue # 2,i think the first issue was called the “spring issue”, hope to read and offer up some more stuff in the future!!

andrew

Andrew;

Welcome back to the hobby. I have both of those issues at home, I will have to look them up when I finish at the office today.

To answer your question the first issue of FSM was actually a “TEST ISSUE” then came Vol. 1 Issue 1 Spring 1982. I have the complete series of both Military Modeler and FSM among others. If you look on eBay.ca you can find the older issues that FSM’s back issue section doesn’t have.

Cheers;

Gregory

i stand corrected

excuse my writing errors as i,m trying to type with a dislocated shoulder and my left hand as support!

Always nice to welcome a fellow Montrealer. And welcome back to the hobby. I’ve only been back a couple of years. What part of town do you live in? I’m really looking forward to seeing some pics. I hope you get over the bad shoulder asap.

Bill

thanks bill

i,m in the st.leonard area but i,m originaly from park extension.

yeah being a carpenter this shoulder thing is hard on the pocket and my clients!

i gave away a ton of black and white 8x10 photos, but will try to scan a few negatives,to try to show off my handy-work .

thanks again bill.

p.s where do you shop for your supplies, since half the old shops are gone,…is it udisco on decarie or hobby world on sherbrooke?

andrew

I go to Udisco from time to time. I’ve haven’t been to Hobby World recently. I do most of my shopping at Hobby Jonction in Dorval. It’s a great little shop. If you want the directions, let me know. I model afv’s almost exclusively, and he’s got a great selection, plus a ton of aftermarket stuff and books. He also sells Gunze paints. He has far, far more aftermarket stuff than Udisco does. I’ve also started using a new shop in Vaudreuil called Hobby Gryffon. His selection isn’t anywhere near Hobby Jonction’s, and nothing like Udisco’s, but he’s the only place around that carries Vallejo paints and Mig pigments. Here’s his site

There’s also this guy up in Quebec. I’ve ordered from him, and the service and prices were good.

I live in the West Island, near the Dorval Airport, so I don’t have any idea of what might be out your way. Hope this helps.

Don’t have issues that far back, but it’d be nice to see some of your work if possible.

Hey,what is this,Canadian old home week?!LOL!![#welcome]

I dunno…maybe? :stuck_out_tongue:

or, can anyone post the printed magasine pics for me ?

thanks in advance.

i,m gonna open a file at photobucket so i can post some pics, but i gotta get my daughter to show me the ropes first,… thank god for the kids!

sooner!

Montreals finest;

I re-read your article in Military Modeler and looked up the pic in FSM showcase. Excellent build! You should submit it to FSM for print. It would help a few people starting out or progressing in dioramas. Think about it.

Cheers;

Gregory

i just posted a few pics i took today of the same dio ,it,s been hanging around in my garage for years and has taken a serious dust-beating!!

Andrew

A long time ago…back in the wild days, I used used to date a lovely girl from Valleyfield. Of course, that meant that the Montreal was my playground…

Club Soda, the Peel Pub, Hurleys… and of course, (back then, not sure about now) the best radio station on the East Coast 97.7 CHOM-FM!!!

Ah, the good old days…of all the cities I’ve lived in or near, I liked Montreal the best.
