These are a couple of pictures of some of the figures I have been working off and on the last two weeks. The two airplanes I am working on have been more trouble to build than I had planned on (one is an ex-Dragon mold kit) so these figures were painted while waiting for the putty to dry on the airplane kits. If I were to paint these figures again I would have used oil paints instead of the enamels that I used, the enamels dried too quickly to allow much blending of the colors like I wanted to try.
The Fw 190 is a Monogram 1/48 scale kit with MicroScale decals used, look at the underwing crosses, they have turned brown from age! That model was built in the early 1980s.

What 1/48 scale figures kit did you use. I am have trouble finding stuff like that in 1/48

Thad, the 1/48 figures are from the Eduard ground crew set, while the 1/72 scale figures in the background are from Prieser. These products are available from mail order businesses.
In a few weeks I will post some pics that will be far more interesting than anything I have posted so far, I have some vacation time ahead that will allow me some time to make some progress on some projects related to my photobase.
The best is yet to come.

When I have a few more things built for the photobase I will begin trying to do pictures that show some sort of activity or maybe even wartime ‘‘action’’ scenes.
I can’t say for sure when these pictures will be done, I hope later this year.
Duke, try one one of these photobase things like I made, it is a way to take some creative and fun pictures of your models, unlike a regular diorama the base can be used for many different models, by changing the buildings or tree line a number of settings or moods can be created within a matter of minutes. Also different backdrops can quickly be changed to further increase your photographic options.
The brick building in the background is made from a model RR building kit I found in a close out sale at a hobby shop. I made a few changes to it so I could use it in my pictures.

In a few weeks or months I might be able to produce the kind of pictures I had in mind when this project was started, this would be so much easier if I knew what I was doing, and I am learning as I go along so this is not a quick process.

Any artform that I ever took up in my life was self-taught.Thirty-five years ago I asked a friend to teach me painting and he gave me the best advise I ever had.He said I will teach you how to mix colors but that is it.If I teach you how to paint you will paint like me ,if you teach yourself it may take a little longer but it will forever be your work.As you can see your creativity is leading you to places I bet you thought could never happen to you.I beleive it really is quite simple if you follow your own artistic instincts.Worked for me and now I see it is also working for you.Dare to be different and have fun.Cheers! I know what I would like my pictures to look like, but actually doing this is not easy for me to do at this time until my modeling skills catch up to the ideas that I have thought of the last couple weeks.
Since my photobase project began I have built ground vehicles, designed and built hangers, painted figures, and learned how to use my digital camera, all these are things that I never would have tried were it not for this photobase. I wonder where this project will lead me to next?
