there’s also a shortage of kits out there for the early cold war planes, like the F-89 Scorpion and F-94 Starfire. One of my favorites from back then was the F-84F with the swept wings…dont know why, but I always liked that one.
I could imagine a 1/32 scale A-6 Intruder too…man, since they put together a 24 scale Harrier, why not a Skyhawk in that scale too? It’s certainly a small enough aircraft that they could pull it off. But I like the idea of more 1/32 jets myself–go on Trumpeter’s website sometime, and take a look at how, while they offer a lot of 32 scale jets, how fully half of them are different variants of MiG-15, 17, or 19…I would like to see more variety than that. The new Crusader is definitely at the top of my list of what to buy next, though.
Also wouldnt mind a 1/48 BUFF, but I would want a Bear to go next to it.
There is a very nice Hobby Boss 1/48 Mirage 3C… there was a Heller Mirage 3 B/C (given the choice… Italeri have dropped Esci’s old Mirage 3E and F-1. There are Mirage 3Rs out there, but not as accurate as they can be. A mate of mine, has a conversion kit (new nose etc etc), to turn the Italieri (old Esci) 3E into an R (going to convert one of my 2 3Es into an R2Z).
As far as Cheetahs go… well there are conversion kits on the market from the same friend, who has done the C, D, and E… and is working on the little known, seldom mentioned R.
The C and D conversions are based on the Heller kit, and the E for the Italeri effort, however, I have been told that they may be changed to either the Hobby boss, or the Italeri kits.
He does do overseas orders, and is finalizing his F1-AZ conv kits for the Italeri/Esci F-1s.
The 48th Dragon kits are good. They are not shake and bake but with a little patience and dry fitting go together nicely. If you look around you can find them at good prices. I just found the Ju88A-6 Balloon Cutter for $20
Knowing Dragon’s M.O., they are may have taken it off the production market for awhile and perhaps plan on bringing it back at a later date as they do with many of their kits.
“Golden Age” and “Yellow Wings” of the 20s and 30s… All in 1/48th with a 1/35th (not a typo) counterpart, and keep the damn prices under 20 bucks for the single-engined 1/48th…
And, as long as I’m wishin’: Get rid of all curent and future 1/32 scale and follow the helicopter trend to 1/35th scale to match up with m’ armor stuff…
Oh yeah… more , LOTS MORE, 1/48th ground support equipment and aircrew/groundcrew figures from all eras…
Someone mentioned a 1/48 Su-25 Frogfoot and I concur. The Kopro offering is impossible to find and the OOP RM is of a pre-production version that is also difficult to find.
A 1/48 FMA IA-58 Pucara and Dassault AlphaJet would be cool.
I am somewhat new to forums but I figure I’ll give it a shot. Academy already made a 1/72 and 1/48 Spitfire Mk. XIVc. I would like to see an Academy 1/32 Spitfire Mk. XIVc so that I can build one in this scale as well. Hopefully an improvement on re-tooling/ photo-etch parts and not just a resize of 1/48 scale.
OK, I forgot the other biggie for this old man! We positively just have to have a 1/32 “Staggerwing”!!! And now for bomb shell number two: I’d love to see a C47 in invasion markings along with a correct stick in 1/35th scale! I want the stick to have repelling ropes and hatchets (just like the real ones did) along with Mohawk haircuts. Nothing less will do. And then if you really want to get on the good side of everybody, you also should make a couple gliders available in the same scale.
Now there’s something in that latest quagmire for everybody (Glider Patches anyone?)
