New- in Wilmington, N.C.

Just completed my first model and boy do I SUCK!!!. I enjoyed building and painting it but I had no idea what I was doing or the order of a proper build. I made the mistake of putting the whole thing together before painting anything, I also had glue beads popping out everywhere and really screwed up the decals. …But I had a good time doing it. I’ve learned a lot from everyone on this board and appreciate the tips and advice. I plan on getting an airbrush system as soon as I do some more research and have already started on another model. As for my first model; I will keep it around for shits and giggles.!!

welcome Dan!! Dont worry about your skills, just use mine as a cover up if needed!! Believe me, the guys here are super helpful.

Welcome Danny!

That’s what the first kit is for! You’ll get better, especially if you hang around here and ask questions.

Welcome aboard! As long as you’re having fun then who cares about the quality? Ask questions here and you’ll soon be building and painting with the best of them.

Besides, you’ve got a pretty darn good hobby shop in the Hungates at the mall there in Wilmington. I make it a point to stop there whenever we make the trip down from Jacksonville.

Welcome

Welcome to FSM!
Yes, you should keep that baby for posterity! It’s always good to look back on our early efforts to judge our progress.
One wee comment: try to tidy up the bad language a bit! (WHAT and giggles?!?!) We’re a family outfit here! ; )

Enjoy the forums, Danny!

[#welcome]to the Forum, Danny! Glad to hear you had fun with your first model. Keep it up. You’ll be amazed at the progress you make with each model you finish. The main thing though is to have fun.

welcome mate!

yes . . . you may ‘suck’ from your point of view, but dont compare yourself to others just yet. you’ll pick up with your skills over the many models you’ll do!

we can all tell you a model of ours which turned into a mess by time we finished it . . . or may still yet to finish lol.

[#welcome], Sounds like u got the right attitude!![:D] Ur gonna do just fine!

Hi fellow beginner, Ur ahead of me already, starting my first now.

Hello Danny, Welcome to the forum.

Nice to see another modeler from Wilmington!

I agree with everyone - keep the model. Every kit is a learning experience, even for the modeling “pros”. Each time, you discover a new technique or idea that will help the next model. After a while, you’ll finish one and think “wow, that looks great!”
