I’ve been away from building models for about 25 years but a work related injury, and subsequent surgery, has kept me stuck at home since last April. Needing something to do, I dug up some old Tamiya US armor kits that I inherited from my dad some years back. I also had an airbrush sitting around that I bought with good intentions about ten years ago but never used. I’ve since put together an M5A1, the Military Police set, and am almost finished with the Sherman Jumbo. So I’m once again bitten with the modeling bug.
Things have changed a lot in 25 years: premade mud, premade washes, pigments, zimmerit stickers, models with zimmerit already on it, weathering kits that look like women’s eye shadow . . . [:|] I’ve been slowly buying and experimenting with most of this stuff, and it seems to me that these changes are good.
Anyway, I mostly like 1/35 armor, but am not above building the occasional plane or racecar.
Welcome to the Forums Bitbite! Glad to have you aboard and back to the hobby. I’ve been building for 66 of my 72 years and have watched the changes come and go. Most of the changes are good and help you make better models. Sooooooooooo, pull up a chair, take a sip or two of your favorite brew and build away. Only one thing to remember, we all like to see pics of your builds. Enjoy!
Welcome bitbite! You’re in good company. Most everyone’s story is the same. Been gone for some time and have returned. And you aren’t kidding about the changes! It was a shock for me too. So jump on in and have fun! A great group of folks here with tons of knowledge and more than willing to help and pass on some tips and tricks. But the main thing to remember is POST PICS! We love seeing builds being done or finished.

Welcome aboard. There are many recent members who have returned to the hobby after a long time away. So your not alone. Look forward to seeing your builds. Dive in and enjoy, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. A lot of the new stuff can be a bit confusing and frustrating at first.
