Just like to introduce myself. I recently started my 9 yr old son on model building to help him with some focus issues (they all got focus issues at 9!) Anyway, since then, I’ve taken over a couple of the projects in order to deal with my own focus issues (we all have focus issues at 42!!!).
Found this place and found in amazingly informative. So glad to be here, looking forward to sharing some of our completed models soon.
Don’t mind Bill he lacks focus! lol…just kidding Bill
Welcome to the forums. There are plenty of people on here to help with anything you may need. You may even have ideas etc. that we all could learn from and that’s what it’s all about.
I have been trying to assist my 6 nephews (various ages 10yrs and younger) on the finer points of model building, it takes time but I like the look on their faces when they show off their latest work.
Thanks for the nice introduction. I too have got my 9 year old son into modeling. He’s currently working on the Polar Lights Bat Plane and an AA airliner, Hasegawa 1/200…He’s got almost as much on the work bench as I do! What are some of your projects, what types of models do you like?
For me, focus is both in eye sight and in projects. I got so many different things going, the wife gets a bit upset.
Current models we are working on, I’m working on a Monogram Pro-Modeler P-38 which is coming along nicely. Reily’s current project is a P-40 Warhawk that is getting more interesting everyday. The good thing is, I learn something from his “doings” so that benefits both of us.
First tip in teaching young ones: Don’t call home from work on his day off of school and say “paint the engine”.[V] You will come home to the unexpected. I’ll start a different post with more specifics.
