First a thank you to all the members here and the managers of the website. Since I found this forum about a month ago I have been reading it every day and doing searches about building methods and painting.
I have not built any models for about 25 years. These detailing and finish painting techniques are all new to me, but I received “The Model” today and I am begining that very first kit this evening. I wanted to start with an M3 Lee but decided to follow advice from the forum and begin with a Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog. I will be sanding and filling the hull tonight and doing some prep work on the road wheels.
The learning curve begins. I hope to post frequently with a lot of questions. The quality of workmanship I see here is pretty impressive, but it seems like a good group to associate with.
I’m relatively new to the forum (July, 2006) and very new to modelling (June, 2006). You’ve definitely come to the right place. I can’t say enough good things about the members and facilitators here. Being completely new to the modelling hobby I had hesitations about participating and especially about posting pictures of my “work”. The group here made me feel very much at home right away. Everyone that I’ve encountered in this forum has been helpful, considerate, and always very positive with their comments, critique and reviews. There’s a lot of good energy here, and always something interesting going on.
I’ll add my welcome to you Bob. I’m new to the forum also, although not as new to building models. This is a great place to learn and sharpen your skills. The people are great and very helpful.
One more welcome for you. I too am a newbie, well, returning to the hobby after a 20 year leave. This place is a great resource, both for help, tip resources, as well as techniques and friendship.
I’m just learning how to work that profile thing and post messages. Still spending more time reading your old messages and words of wisdom than I am actually working on the model, but I am doing model work again finally.
