New Factory Tour: Lots of Pics.

Well, the Armor factory is in full swing again, this time making a more varied group of vehicles.

I started out building a 1/72 scale Russian D-30 howitzer from Model Wheels. There is a ton of cleanup that has to be done! Still, it looks like it might build into a pretty decent kit:

Then I started on a PST 1/72 scale Russian T-54 tank. I only got as far as here:

Next, I decided to build a little 1/72 scale German scout vehicle from Matchbox that I got at Orangecon. It is the Sdkfz 232. I started out building the body:

Then I built the wheels and undercarriage:

Then, since it was so simple, I built the turret and then fastened it to the top of the hull.

As that dried, I also couldn’t refuse the calling of my 1/72 scale M-19 Tank Transporter, also from Matchbox. I got it at Orangecon aloing with the German Scout Car. Here is the cab being test-fit together. I have to paint the interior before I close it up for good:

Then there is the back cargo bed:

Then I started on the chassis, but didn’t do to much:

Finally, I commenced construction on another ACE kit, the BMP 2. Here is the hull put together:

From this angle, you can see that the usual gaps that normally happen at the front (indicated by arrows) aren’t as severe on this kit. This makes things much easier.

That concludes this tour. I hope everyone had a good time. Now to the veranda outside for more burgers!

LOL… certainly got a lot on your plate Duke. looking good, waiting for the finished pics!

No slacking for the holidays in your shop I can tell Duke! Great to see the assembly line is still chugging right along!

Knock…knock…anyone heard of the Christmas season with a hundred things to do? LOL It seems you’re ahead of the game and thus have a tad of free time on your hands. Lucky guy, you sure are busy. I admire such determination.

Nice to see what you have started, how were the Burgers? [BG]

outstanding. love to see the factory in production.

joe

Right on! I thought I was bad!

Very nice. Good to see a variance, but Soviet stuff is still my favourite by far. You know, with all the soviet stuff you’ve been building, ever consider a red square parade dio?

How did the old WWII slogans go, every minute spent on the production line is one minute closer to victory! LOL That is a good method that you have there. I am sure that it helps a person not to get bored with the project that they are working on.

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I’m glad you like them, I’ll have more progress pics up later. [^]

Thanks tigerman! I build during the Holidays cause it helps me keep my sanity in all that insanity out there. Besides, Elves are used to working the holidays! [:o)]

Thankl

Yeah, I like to do something different now and them I have some Russian-built Middle Eastern stuff to start on soon too. Then there is some more German coming up as well.

I like the idea of a Dio, but I haven’t the room to put one up to show everything I’ve built. I still want to do a Photo Base like the airfield one the guy uses to to photograph his German planes with.

Certainly an impressive selection of models you’re working on there.
Even I don’t have that many models on the go!

Currently I’m working on:
M48 Patton, complete and being painted (1/35 Tamiya, second-hand model renovated with some parts from
Patton sprues I had in my spares box)
Polish Ford TC armoured car, complete and awaiting being painted (1/35 RPM)
LRDG Jeep, dismantled and awaiting cleanup, reconstruction and repainting (1/35 Tamiya, another second-hand model)
French Char B1.bis and FT-17, complete and painted, awaiting decals and weathering (the decal carrier film is printed off-register so I will need to varnish the decals before I can use them)

Warhammer 40K Imperial Leman Russ tank, completed and being painted at the minute (yet another renovated second-hand model!)
WH40K Eldar Falcon grav tank, ditto
WH40K Eldar Shrieker jetbike, painted and awaiting decals + varnish

Boeing F4B biplane, in the very early stages of construction - cockpit interior and engine (1/32 Hasegawa)
G4M1 Betty, painted and decaled, awaiting weathering and varnishing (1/144 Hasegawa)

That sounds like quite a list! I nknow how it is. Not onlydo I have this factory going, but I got my aircraft factory in full swing as well. I even just started an F-15J since the last post.

Keep this models coming, andd on’t forget to post pics!

I don’t know how you do it Duke. Armor and aircraft production lines. I have to shutdown one or the other if I’m going to get anything done. It’s always fun seeing you kick these projects out. Keep um coming buddy. Semper Fi, mike

Thanks Mike! There are more coming, I assure you. In fact, I just started another project, while making progress on these. Mor epics later!
