New Dragon Nashorn in 1/72nd

Have you guys posted on this yet? It’s the first open-topped 1/72nd scale kit from a big manufacturer to come out in a while, as far as I recall. This could be particularly interesting, to see what kind of interior detailing will come with the kit.

The Nashorn (formerly Hornisse, but Hitler didn’t like the name) battalions racked up an impressive score of enemy tanks destroyed. The cannon used by the Nashorn was the same as that used in the Elefant, Jagdpanther and King Tiger.

Hopefully Ernst’s vehicle will be one with the decal options – the “Tiger of Vitebsk” destroyed 14 Soviet tanks in one day, using only 21 rounds of ammo. Also interesting is that the only Pershing Tank destroyed by enemy fire in Europe was destroyed by a Nashorn.

Cool release of a neat vehicle!

However, weren’t 2 Pershings knocked out on their initial deployment, one by a Tiger 1? As I remember the write-up 2-3 rounds into the turret in quick succession. One is also kinda-sorta shown on the older DML Jagdtiger box, looks something like the pics of the other which had turret and running gear damage. Check the Hunnicutt book for more, I don’t have it in front of me now…

I’ve never heard of any other Pershing being knocked out other than the one destroyed by the Nashorn.

This is definately a welcome release.I’ll take two!

Thanks for the info Larry. I had no idea that the nashorn was such a cool tank, Ill have to check that one out.
