New Dragon Kits

I just saw on Great Models website that DML is releasing a Stug IV final version and rereleasing the Panther A Late but with metal barrel and PE parts this time! Hope I’m not posting old news!

Missed the Panther A, but they are also coming out with a Jagdpanther #6245. Is that a new kit or rerelease. It too has an aluminum barrel and PE parts.

News to me Bill. Interested in both, too.

Matt

Whats the deal with the DML and the PE and aluminum barrels? Tamiya better catch on or be left in the dust ,… totally kick butt kits on both sides however ! [8D][:D]

The Jagdpanther is a rerelease and im sure the PE bits will be the type that came with there Panther F ie the Grills
good news IF they dont mess with the price

i see there rereleasing the US WW2 Tank crew

Ooh this is nice[:(!]
the New rereleases are for the 60th anniversary of D day

from Dragon USA site

the list of kits are 5 US Figure kits and 5 German figure and 2 AFV kits

what about the British commonwelth?[banghead]
why not rerelease the M4A1 early with PE and Alum barrel or the Hybrid Firefly
or even some of the Bitish figure kits out there
[soapbox]

Doesn’t seem quite fair Jon. However, I will be watching for the limited releases. Trading cards also. [:P]

I wish someone besides AFV Club would make kick-butt releases of modern armor with all those cool PE parts and stuff…

Jon, didn’t you know that Germany won the war?? [:D] As much as I like modeling German armor (and I do have a bunch of it), it would be nice to see more variety. It looks as if I will be waiting a little while longer for more variety.

I’m right there with you on this one, Jon. Omaha Beach always gets the press (and kits, it seems) over Gold and Juno! But it is cool that DML is doing something. I get the feeling Tamiya has decided to back off on Armor and let DML lead the pack while they (Tamiya) saturate the market with wingy thingies!

I agree with Capt. Caveman… More Allied stuff would be cool! If they wanted to ‘comemorate’ D-Day, which was (I think, correct me if I’m wrong here) an ALLIED operation, why didn’t they come out with some D-Day Armor like a few of the ‘Funnies’?

On the other side of the coin, any release is a good release.

Ron

Overlord, cool name. Today they’d probably call it something lame like Operation Liberate Europe.

Naw, probably something more like “Operation debate-it-in-the-UN-'til-everyone-in-the-world-knows-the-plan-so-the-bad-guys-have-a-chance-to-get-ready-for-it”!

Bill,

You’re evil. lol

Ron

Who, Meeeeee???

I do agree that German armor is way overdone , but lets face it some of thier ideas were so innovative and wacky at times ,and so ahead of thier time its almost a wonder we won the war to begin with ! Thier engineers were incredible , the engineer to invent the torsion suspension , actually presented that idea to the USA prior to giving it to germany . They bought the idea and today it is still being used for heavy armor ! Thier love of huge guns was a terror to any tank crew as well . Thank god they didn’t invent chobham armor back then or they may have been invincible . Germany was the first country to recognize the effectiveness of heavy armor on the battlefield , whereas the USA thought airpower and infantry , ( backed by light armor ) was the way to go . They were wrong and today the M1 abrams MBT is the admission of this fact ! The USA said to the world " this will not happen again " and they field our troops with the best possible equipt. for each situation . The result is far less casualties than would occur back in WW2.

Dragon could have came out with a Cromwell tank or something also.

Tamiya is catchin on. I got a Panzer III Ausf L for my b-day, and it was modified, with an added set of Panzer troops for riders, and a new Aluminum barrel.

Operation Frenchi, Belgi, Balti, Rushie, Hollie, Balkie Freedom

Spector Chobham armour is a British invention and if we had have invented it back then it would have been good for the allies, it was developed near a place called Chobham in the UK

Dragon have already got the kits out there, the M4A1early is high on collectors lists that there selling for loads of money on Ebay and Dragon must know they would sell loads of them
There’s already British figure kits out there plus the new SAS figure kits that look great and were a big part of the Normandy invasion
Why not add them as Special 60th anniversary of D-Day Normandy kits
They should lose the Jagdpanther and add the M4 and lose 1 US figure and 1 German figure kits and replace them with British kits
We weren’t just a big aircraft carrier 20 miles off France
