new diorama

I a m doing a small diorama with my friend. I need to know where to get a small wooden base that looks like molding on the sides of it. It is a small diorama that includes a tank and soldiers (both from tamiya) and a soldier conversion bag.

Have you looked at the selection of unfinished and prefinished plaques at your local craft store? They come in all sizes and shapes. If they don’t have them, check your local trophy shop, I’m sure they’ll have something for you.

It don’t take much to custom make one yourself. Scrap wood, a (good) saw, stain and (I’d reccommend) some polyurethane. I’ve never had much luck finding exactly what I wanted in a store.

Decoupage plaques. You can find them everywhere, all shapes and sizes.

Good advice from everyone,

Figure out what your measurments are and ask around your church, Kiwanas, etc.

If I remember correctly you are still in school, right? Check with your wood shop… More than likely there are plenty of scrap pieces that just need a routed edge and a stained finish.

Best of luck with the search

I checked with my tech teacher (wood shop) he said all i need is the measurements and he will make it for me. I began to build the tank, the soldiers and extra parts have not been used yet.

Can’t ask for better than that! If in the future you lose access to the shop class just go on down to your ‘home improvement’ store (Home Depot/Lowes) and ask about scrap pieces of actual molding and corresponding wood. Armed with those and a miter saw or careful cutting and you’re done.[;)] Well at least where straight edges are involved.[8-)]

Hobby Lobby has them for less than 5 bucks up to large sizes.
