Gentleman, My name is Denis and i am a new builder , i did a few 45 years ago, oups this will start given my age. I am a bit apprensive this is serious stuff you guy’s are masters i am lost for words. My first project could be i hope a 1/35 WW2 sherman with canadian marking on a train coming out from the shop. i love these diorama and would love to make one . The sherman i can find but the train ?? Scratch not ready for that. I will have my hands full , just for the painting . If a cant find it , maybe a german tank in the desert.
Welcome to the forum and back to the hobby, Denis. Don’t get put off by the work you see here or any other site. No one ever spits out a masterpiece right off the bat. Take your time, ask questions if you have them and above all, have fun! It is a hobby after all, not brain surgery.
As for your Sherman, have you picked a specific kit yet? I’m no expert on Sherman’s, or anything else for that matter, but would highly recommend you start with a Tamiya Sherman. They may not be the most accurate but are great kits.

[snWcm]. For the dio you want to build you can take one the 1/35 train cars that Dragon a while back and maby change it around a bit.
Welcome Denis, Indeed there are many excellent modelers that roam this site. They willingly share their many secrets and are always happy to give advice and encourage your advancement in the hobby. Along with them are many of us very average modelers who are learning and enjoying the hobby, just as you. Use the site to help yourself, but don’t be afraid to share your work. Welcome back to the hobby and like the others have said, if you have questions don’t hesitate to ask. The guys here are nice and more than willing to help, myself included. Your planned dio sounds great, but a tank in the desert would be a better way to start, especially after taking a long break from the hobby.

Denis, Now that sounds like an interesting dio to do. An ambitious goal indeed. If you’ve been out of modeling for a while you may want to work on some skill sets before taking on that dio. Don’t jettison your goal/desire to build your Canadian Sherman dio. Find a kit that interests you and pick a skill set or two (to start with). If you try do do more than that you may overwhelm yourself. OR if you are a type A OCD modeler just run with what ever suits you. The skill set can range from anything like filling imperfections, to laying down that perfect coat of paint, to weathering. Trust me that is just the tip of the ice berg. Oh yeah, then there is photoetch. Me, I love the stuff. Others curse it. Whatever skill you decide to tackle, dive into it and if you have a problem, the answers are here. You will be surprised at how fast you can build up your skill sets. Cheers Dave
thank you for your kind words and thank for the hand out this should be fun. I do have projects in my head . I will walk and not run i just would like to make something nice to look at . I have some members of my family that have been in WW2 and if this turns out ok i will try to make a little diorama of their ordeal. I WILL NEVER FORGET.

Fourth - Remember, there is no living explosive expert because the last thing you need to learn will kill you!!. Same is true…to some extent…here…we are all just on different plaaces on the learning curve
Lastly - Build the model and keep it where you can look at it. As you continue you can always look back and see your progress
