New Beech T-6A Texan II

Does any one make a kit of the Texan II? Preferably in 1/72. Or is this another one that I’ll have to wait years on??!![:(]

It’s based on the Pilatus PC 9. There is a kit of that, though who makes it I can’t remember. however, it is sadly lacking in detail and in 1/72 very small indeed.
I work on PC 9’s & the real thing isn’t that big, easier to work on than in 1/72nd though!

PC-9 kits are a bit of a trick to come by.

Airfix had a 1/72 Shorts Tucano which I think is another PC-9 derivative.

There was a company (now I believe out of business) called Pioneer. I think they were British and they had a 1/48 Shorts Tucano in their catalog. I built their 1/48 BAe Hawk trainer and if that was any indication of the quality of their kits, its little wonder if they did go out of business.

If you’re up for a challenge, I believe High Planes of Australia has a PC-9 in 1/72 in their range.

thats a good idea for a limited run vacform from czech republic…

I saw a Texan II in person and spoke to the pilot this past June. I, too, would love to see a kit of that plane!

thyamis has just shaken my memory about a limited run 1/48 T-34 Turbo Mentor from Czech Hobby released in recent years. I think if they would do that then the Texan II is not exactly hard to imagine them taking on.

Upnorth, sorry Buddy, two different aircraft. The Shorts tucano is a redesign of the Brazillian Tucano. The PC 9 is a Swiss design. I’ve worked on both, the Shorts built planes were trash, very poorly put together.
You could be right about High Planes, though they aren’t cheap

There has got to be a kit of the PC9 in 1:72 because the latest ModelArt Australia carries a review of a set of decals for a RAAF aircraft FACDU/77 Squadron. The FACDU (Forward Air Control Development Unit) has a Sharkmouth.
