New B-26B model

Seems the guys from Accurate Miniatures have been to the MAPS museum recently to measure the B-26B there that is under restoration. Certainly will be nice to have a new(and hopefully correct) B-26B kit. I just spent a few hours crawling around the plane and it is very cool.

That’s certainly encouraging news. As a member of Maps, and since it’s minutes away from home, I too have crawled around there quite a bit. An Accurate Miniatures B-26 would be a very welcome addition.

That is encouraging news indeed! If they make one, I’m gonna get it!

Put my name on the waiting list. An AM Marauder…thank you God!

It’s a wonderful experience crawling around an ol’ war horse aint it.[:D] Got to do that with a B-17G at March field Air Museum in June 2004. What an experience…[^]

My son and I got to crawl around in the CAF’s B-26 way back in 1990 at the last Airshow down in Harlingen before the move to Midland. Have a picture of us in the cockpit taken by one of the crew. Last time I saw the aircraft in flight before the fatal crash some years later. I built Monogram’s “Flak Bait” when if first came out. Ready for another good kit of it.

Clear left!

That B-26 is an original model (not an A or B model like “Flak Bait” which is a B-26B-block 55) of the three that forcelanded in B.C. in Jan. '42 on their way to Alaska. That is good news since the only one close is the old Monogram 1/72 Snaptite model which I have 2 of which I am working on. I want to do a 77th BS model in the Kiska Blitz in the Aleutians and a 22nd BG model in New Guinea or Midway in May '42. You can find pictures of its recovery in '71 by Dave Tallichet on the B-26 Marauder Archives website. Another one that is being rebuilt is 40-1370 which crashed at Naknek, AK in August, 1942. The Hill AFB Museum is working on that one.

Man, I hope you’re right -
What a kick that would be…I’d welcome a 1/48 B-26 (or three) into my collection - especially if it was an AM product.

It would be so nice to see an accurate, well engineered B-26 in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale.

If AM is in fact planning a new tool 1/48 B-26, we should see it on the shelves in , oh say… 3 to 5 years. AM makes some really nice kits, but it takes them “forever” to get them to market with their limited resources.

Regards, Rick

Swanny,

That is excellent news, now all we gotta do is wait (and hope) that AM carries through. I love the old B-26, and I would love to have a quality kit like AM. Thanks for the news! I’ll be on the list for it for dure!

Please, oh please be it with markings for the Missouri Mule II. Please, please, oh please.

Needless to say I’ll be watching AM announcements closely to time the eBay sale of my Revell Germany B-26 kit. [;)]

Let’s hope it really happens [;)]
