Based on glowing reviews of them, I ordered a couple of the new Airfix kits in 1:72. I certainly am not disappointed! I got the P-51D and the A4B. They are little jewels, and so reasonable in price- about half of what something from Asia is costing these days. Just as it was seeming like model kits were getting too expensive for me, New Hope! Lets have some more!

Prices are getting a little crazy. Then you can put more money in aftermarket parts than the original kit cost! I’m happy just building out of the box.
Don, I couldn’t agree with you more. I haven’t picked up any of their kits yet but I’m really eye-ing up their A-4. It’s getting to the point where what I build is dictacted by what I can afford rather than what I’d like. My prefered scale is 1/48 but Airfix might make me change to 1/72 if they can offer great kits for REASONABLE prices.

Yes, their new 1/72 kits are just plain, simple FUN. The Bf-110C is quick, easy and great for a weekend build.
I’m glad to see the new owners resurrecting that proud ‘Airfix’ name.
I built the A-4 scooter, Spit 9 and 1a, BAE hawk 120 and have the BF 110 and Canberra all in 1/72 waithing.
The pannel lines on the Hawk is a little deep, but on the Spits and especially the A-4 they are just so nice! Granted all these are new or re-tooled kits.
Just beware, Airfix sometimes bring out really old kits in the new red boxes!
I must say I have found a new liking in some of the new Airfix stuff, and as you rightly say - bang for your buck is high.
Build the little Scooter, youl enjoy it I am sure!

I’m diggin their new lineup. Built the Sea Harrier (very nice kit, great decals as well), picked up the Swordfish on foats (have yet to start it, but it looks great & has been reviewed well) and I’m working on a Bf109G right now. The -109mis a different beast that the others, very obviously aimed directly at the beginner… but the decals were so cool I had to buy it! Nice quick build.
Nice to hear that AIRFIX fixed their decal problems. Some 10 years ago I have experienced troubles with their decals either curling or would just not stick no matter the decal solutions used. I too heard that the A-4 kit was a beaut, be great to see them release one in 1/48th.

I’ve been getting my hands on a few of them myself. I’ve almost finished the Sea Harrier F/A 2 and was very impressed with it especially for the price paid for it. Their releases can be a bit niche though with mainly British subjects, or British related subjects but if you like them then I would definitely recommend them as long as you get the newer toolings.
