Hi Guys

I’m a neophyte modeler - I’ve only completed 1 model in my entire lifetime and currently working on my second (Testors B-2 Spirit [V]) and my generous father - being the great person he is, gave me a Badger Model 150 and a Sprayit Model 600-13 air compressor along with a various assortment of paints.

I’ve learned a great deal from these forums and I was wondering if anybody had any experience or comments or information to offer regarding the airbrush and compressor as I’m anxious to use it and learn how to airbrush!

The 150 should be a very good airbrush. It’s internal mix, double-action, and uses the same head assemblies as the 100 and 200. It should do pretty much anything you want for modeling.

You won’t go far wrong with a Badger airbrush.

Best bet is to just fire it up and see what you can do with it.

It takes practise, lots of practise, to get the best from any AB, but at least with a compressor and a ready supply of paint, you’ve got all you need.

I’ve heard a few people here say they love their 150… I think it will be a great brush for you…

A little question : are you having it in hands or buying by mail ? My question comes from the fact I don’t like the grip of the 150; don’t misunderstand me: I am not saying that it is a bad airbrush but I don’t like its grip ( and yes sir, I owned one for years ); it is not against Badger, as I own an Omni 4000 and a Sotar, but I don’t appreciate this one. So to say that it is important, when you chose a tool with a grip ( or a bow, or a golf club, or…) to touch it; it even has not to be yours, it can be a friend’s airbrush, just touch it. If it fits you, then you can’t go wrong with Badger, or Iwata, or a number of other ones that you’ll find as links on Scott’s site

I think you got the solution as you are the best judge to know what fits you; apart from my reticence on this point, you won’t go bad with a Badger ( and Iwata, and Paasche, and…type your favorite brand here) I insisted on it as I was always uneasy with this one though it makes excellent work.

another question - the airbrush came with a 1/4 oz. color cup - can this be used im similar fashion as a gravity fed airbrush for paint instead of using the glass paint jars attached to the bottom?

As well the air compressor - it doesn’t have an air regulator or a water/mosture trap. Is the regulator necessary? And if so - any recommendations?

The specific brand is “Sprayit Model 600-13 Diaphragm Type Air Compressor” and oddly enough I couldn’t find anything on google about it.
