New airbrush on it's way

It is the new Badger 3155 Hybrid and I am excited to try it out.
For those of you who love your Anthem, this is an Anthem that has been “hot-rodded” as airbrushers call it. It is supposed to spray finer than the Anthem so I am interested in how it does. A fellow artist Jay Livery designed it and he seems real happy with it.

Just what you needed Mike, another AB. [:)] Let us know how it works out.

Regards, Rick

If you can get two we can work a deal! [tup]

actually… odd question for you Mike, it was that cake decorating video that spurred my memory… what kind of airbrushes do cake decorators use? single or double action/gravity or siphon fed etc… reason I ask is my mom was asking about my airbrushes as she just took a cake decorating class (she loves to cook) and was asking me how much airbrushes were, how do you get the air to them etc… I told her I would be happy to bring down my axtra brush and my compressor and let her try them… if she liked the brush she could borrow it for awhile… but I was thinking, if it’s not a huge expense her birthday is coming up and was thinking about just buying her one…

sorry to divert from the subject so much but seeing that cake video ad jogged my memory… if you dont know, could you ask Ken or someone? I would appreciate it!

Tom,

I think most use a gravity-feed because they have to spray at a really low pressure to not blow the frosting off the cake. [(-D]
Just remember that the airbrush should be one used for cakes only with nothing more than food coloring sprayed through it.
You don’t want to use enamels and clean it with lacquer and then go spraying food coloring onto cakes with it. [yuck]
I think something like the Omni 4000 or 5000 would be nice for that.
If you want to know more then send Ken an email and ask him.
His email is kenbadger@aol.com

looks pretty cool Mike!![tup] hey, did you ever start painting your computer monitor yet? later.

Chris,

Yes I painted it black but that’s it. [:D]
It came out pretty good but I think there are better paints out there as far as adhesion goes. I should have used PPG uros. [;)]

Mike

thanks Mike… yeah she was just wanting to get used to holding a brush and practice some of her techniques… of course my dad would probably still think the cake tasted good even with the hint of windex and thinners in the background [;)]

I might think about getting her a 4000, if she decides she doesn’t like it I can always use it for something…

thanks!

Looks nice, but I’m curious about what makes it a hybrid? I’ve heard my 200 described as a hybrid by FSM because it has a double-action type needle/tip while having a single action trigger, but that definition clearly doesn’t apply to your 3155.

Andy,

Usually an airbrush is called a “hybrid” because it has parts from two or more different airbrushes.
For instance, this hybrid on Badger’s website under the Garage Sale link has a Badger 150 head assembly and needle with an old style Vega 2000 body:
