excelent news! thanks for the heads up.
Nice! but who is “Great Way Hobby”? I’ve never heard of them before.
i think its Great Wall ??..
looks cool !!!
great wall?? Oh that makes more sense. That logo is a little hard to read. [:(DD] [8-|]
According to Aeroscale, the planned release date is next month!
very cool. Prob be too expensive tho. Still want a good IAR-80…LOL!
Finally!!!
Now I can’t wait to see the price tag. If it does go over $100, I hope doesn’t go over too much.
Great info, THANKS
Great news!
We shall see if it actually does come out on time. Still waiting on the Revell Ventura.
Looking at the CGI photos it looks like a nicely detailed kit.
If it’s not too expensive I’m tempted to load my half-built Monogram kit full of firecrackers and toss it off the roof [li]
(We need an explosion smilie!!!)
Don’t do that.
Ship it to Hans…he might be happy to have a spare.
( Explosion ? Perhaps a holy handgrenade or killer rabbit smilie…)[whstl]
Lol SG.
All joking aside most of the trouble was assembling the thing and she is together so the hard part should be over. (cross your fingers [:(])
Since she’s all black she should be easy to paint. I just need to get the weathering right.
Still I’ll probably pick up the Great Wall kit in a few years when I can get one on sale if it’s not too bad a kit. I’ll agree with Hans that most of the old Monogram kits are still great kits but this one was a rough ride.
A great news ,
i do love this plane .
I hope the kit will not be too expensive .
Wait and see (end of july )
Does anyone here have any experience with Great Wall kits? Quite honestly, I’ve never heard of them.
And if anyone wants to get rid of their Revell/Monogram P-61, I’ll take it. After having built eight of them over the past few years, I’m ready for #9 just so long as they keep producing excellent decals for them!
Eric
Let me put it this way, I can go to Michaels with a 50% coupon and buy the Revell kit for about $12 including tax. If the Revell kit is not up to par with this new kit; that is what modeling skills are for. That is what Great Wall is competing against. Now, we will see how competitive they are.
Should be good—this is the company that released the Fw189’s a while back…Fermis built one up in here and it turned out really nice…I think his thread was called “the Flying Eye” or something like that…I think they are somehow affiliated with Dragon…
I just finished the Revell P-61 I got for $12 with a coupon at Hobby Lobby, It’s a horribly made kit, nothing fits right, but it was a fun challenge to make it come out nice. I used aftermarket decals (Zotz makes a couple of great sets, 4 planes per sheet- It was hard to decide on which one I wanted to build!) Also I bought metal gear, resin wheels, and canopy paint mask set. Spent 4 times more on after market accessories than I paid for the basic kit!
I airbrused it with black glossy Model Master paint, applied the decals, then gave it a coat of Testor’s Semi-Gloss clear. It came out with a great satin finish.
By the way, how does one “weather” a black airplane? [:^)] I like it as it is, so I think I’ll leave it alone.
I have a Great Wall Hobbies Fw-189A in my stash…awesome looking kit in the box. Like Manny said, Fermis built it and I dont remember too many complaints about the build. Funny thing is..I just told the wifey I wasnt gonna buy any more kits…except this one…[:D]
Those old kits can certainly be a challenge. I have many of them. I am currently working on a P-40B. I am wondering if I will ever finish it! Out of 61 parts, very few of them fit without extensive modification. I have scratch-built more than 70 additional and replacement parts. I have not purchased a single AM part. I did purchase a decal set for a George Welch aircraft.
Set-backs were the dog chewed up the nose piece and I spelt liquid weld over the wing assembly. But, I am still getting my monies worth out it even after buying TWO $8 kits which I am using to build this thing. I would have had some of the detail in a Hasegawa, 1/48 Curtiss P40E kit, but it would have cost me five times as much, and I would still have to do some scratch-building and modifying.
I never worked with back, but I would assume that your would use lighter colors of black/grey to weather. There is certainly room for modulation to allow for different panels and light.
