Perth has an announcement on their link for Academy of an upcoming new M7 kit! No further details. Hopefully a variant with the M3 bogies, early pulpit, and three piece transmission housing.
Looks like Academy and DML are racin’ to see who can put out the most Sherman-hulled vehicles these days.
M7 sounds nice, but unless there is an “in-action” figure set available, then I’ll pass. (That’s the problem with open-topped AFVs - need some folks to put in 'em.)

I agree on the need for crew figures. Trumpeter, Dragon, and Tri Star have done some great figure sets for German Arty and SP’s, but sadly no one has done so for the Western Allies in plastic. There are a few sets by Warriors and Verlinden though. If Academy does do the initial production M7, both US and Commonwealth crews would work in various uniforms… North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Pacific Theater…
But if as you say Academy and Dragon are in this race, we armor modelers definitely stand to benefit[swg]
If Dragon and Academy are in races then we may see some more Tanks and new infantry models. But the two reason I dont like to get Dragon armor is they have I believe you would call it Indie Track and not the rubber track and two they dont inclued infantry with alot of there kits. Like I was hoping to see an infantry unit or a U.S. halftrack crew with the M2A1.
The latest Dragon M4 releases have a single band track rather than the individual shoes and end connectors of the earlier M4 kits. The M2 Half track has a unique split track for that kit. I am looking forward to adding both to my collection during this seasons shopping spree, I mean Christmas shopping. Worst case, you can use the old Tamiya figures with the Dragon and Trumpeter M2/M3 series Half Tracks. But I have the feeling that more figure kits will hit the market soon to fill those voids. At least in resin.
